Title pretty much says it. Any advice?

How difficult is it to do with the TC still installed?

How long has it taken you to complete the process?

Thanks.

With the case in the Jeep I bet it would take less than 2 hours the first time.

I did a Tera ESS SYE, Tera 2WDLo shifter and Teralow 4:1 in well under 4 hours taking my time, with lots of breaks and what not. It took more time getting the nuts off the xfer case and reinstalling them. If you are doing it in the Jeep it should not be very long.

It really is quite easy. The only tough thing I think would be tougher with the case in the Jeep is removing the lock rings. Get good lock ring pliers for this job -- well worth it. You will also want good snap ring pliers for the big snap ring holding the output shaft bearing. Make sure the oil pump pickup stays put when reassembling. I think that is it.

Oh yeah. You need Superman to get that yoke nut torqued to 180 ft-lbs or whatever the hell it is. My big torque wrench goes up to 160 lbs. I managed to max it out so I am hoping I got it somewhere close to 180. Yikes. Air or electric impact would probably be handy. Hand tools were used throughout. You also need a 12 point 10 mm socket for one of the bolts. If the AA kit uses the gear driven speedo be sure to mark the orientation of where the speedo pickup resides.

I removed the xfer case myself just straight arming it (no jack) but had a friend help guide it back into place while I lifted it. I could have put it back in myself but it was definitley faster (maybe a 2 minute job) with an extra pair of hands. Basically he turned the yoke to line up the splines on the input shaft. The case weighs maybe 65 lbs with fluids in it.

It's a breeze with the case still in the heep. Just take your time and if you haven't done it before follow the directions.

The slinger and the rear seal kind of suck to get out, but just keep working them and you will get them. The one snap ring can be kind of a pain, but you actually don't have to remove both of them. Just the outer one.

An hour and a half is a fair estimate for this install.

I did the exact same kit that you have it took me about 2 hours and a six pack. Pretty easy follow directions and follow pointers above. X2 on a good set of snap ring and lock pliers. :D

Few thoughts here....... dont lose track of the shift rail spring, and make sure that the pump is installed outside of the case. Ask 1BLKJP about this...:)

You know I just checked the calendar and it didn't say that it was kick Jack in the ding ding week. :D That was an honest mistake when I wasn't the one that took it apart.

2 hours??? My Jeep sat in the garage for 4 days doing the SYE! There's more to that story, but I think it would have taken me the better part of a day the first time. I did it w/the tc in the Jeep. Busting open anything requiring RTV was new territory for me, so I was working very slowly, but it really was a great learning experience.

And after driving around for a week w/the speedo acting up, I was able to pull it apart and put the last snap ring in place in under an hour. :D

Don't know if the XJ's are the same as the TJ's, but if they are http://www.stu-offroad.com/engine/sye/sye-1.htm . Not many pics, just information.

I think it was 4 hours for the first one and a couple on the second one. Experience does help.
