Does anyone know where I can find a heavy duty diff cover for my 8.8 ford rear axle? I remember seeing a write up on one of the 4X4 mags where they tested a bunch of covers and there was one particular one that caught my eye. It was a diff cover with a demon like face on it,,,I have been searching the web for it but I can not locate the maker of this cover,,,,any help out there? Thanks Pop Alf

thanks for the info, but I already have a diff protector, just wanted to put another cover on since I heard that the 8.8 cover is rather weak. Pop Alf

What most people do is grind off the bottom lip on the 8.8's so they don't peel off. If you have a diff guard, and it is sufficient you shouldn't need a stronger cover...JMO

Bluetorch Fabworks (http://www.bluetorchfab.com/oscomm/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=56_35&products_id=53)
Crane (http://www.highclearance.com/diffcover/index.htm)
These are two of the toughest covers out there.

Check the price on these things??? Thanks but I will grind the lip off and put on a guard if I had an 8.8 again.

Heckle, I wasn't originally going to post to this thread at all, but I saw that no one had answered the fella's original question...
That is why I suggested Crane and Bluetorch.
In the post before mine, he was given the option of grinding the cover, fair enough. But the truth is that the 8.8 covers are truly weak. They will not only peal back (if not ground properly), but you can also dent them pretty easily if you slide back into a rock so that the ring gear is contacting the diff cover. Seen it... more than once.
Besides, I think that they look pretty cool. Especially when you paint them up.

Danno the stock cover sucks but once you grind it and then put a good guard on it I never had a problem. I just can not see spending all that money on the other covers. I understand that you just posted the links.
Meanwhile I bought a Dynatrack cover for my D60
