All:

I'll be camping this weekend off of 260 between 17 and 87. Any suggestions on places to see, things to do? My buddy is taking his factory tacoma, and we don't plan on any serious offroading. One of the folks will have a 4yo with them. I'm just interested in sights to see.

My typical camping preference is a secluded spot somewhere out if the National Forrest. No services. Any suggestions?

This is last minute notice. I'm leaving this afternoon...

Well I would recommend the Rim Rd if possible. I was just there about a month ago and camped there, very nice drive and very secluded for the most part. I'm not sure how far you are from it and it isn't difficult to do, it's a scenic drive.

I saw the pics from rim road and it looks really cool. Where exactly is rim rd?

Edit: Found it on the gazetteer. Is this FR 702?

Got east towards Sho Low. You'll come to 87 and make a left and that will take you to Rim Rd. It'll be on the right side of the road.

Well thanks for the advice. I didn't have a chance to hit up rim road. We were sort of strappe for time. There was a pretty heavy rain on Friday. Since there were kids with us, they voted on a hotel at Camp Verde on Friday. We camped near the Bull Pen Ranch off of FR215 on Sat/Sun. It's a beautiful area. Next time I'll be driving and wei'll have time to explore. I look forward to more camping/exploring!
