I have given up. Taking her to the dealer tomorrow. I have removed the drivers side shroud, droped the tank for a second time (it's got a little gas in it but wont start because of the angle) and I can't find the leak. The longer fuel line I changed looks crimped already, because it is too long. I bought the sending unit grommet, new vents and vent gaskets, but getting the tank away from the fill and return hose ... I can't get a screwdriver in there to get off the clamps. No way. Could just be a bad connection there but I can't take stuff apart that far and get it back in on my own .... I give up! The Jeep beat me ... ok, it beat me!
Anyway, I'm gonna take it to the dealership ... and just pay 'em. Can't afford a gas leak any longer. My DD too.
Not to mention it's 190 million degrees outside.

And I'll bring it in, with 1 front bolt, JB welded in (those 3 are a biatch), wheelwell shroud removed ... ready to pull, with new parts I purchased yesterday ... and I'm just gonna pay 'em. I can't do it on my own. I can't do it. I'm just gonna pay 'em. If they determine the whole tank needs to be replaced, or the sending unit ... I'm just gonna hafta pay 'em.
I give up.

Let us know where the leak turns out to be.

Welp, the stealership concluded that my gas tank is "bowed". So I guess the extreme heat, and 10 years of Arizona summers just warped it. I told them to go ahead and replace it. Sure, I could go scrounging in junkyards and do the work myself but I don't have another vehicle, so I might as well just put it on a credit card and have them do it.
Total damage should be about $800!

So being "bowed" has caused a crack? Or it caused the fuel pump gasket to not seal correctly?

Not sure. I think the second one.

$805. That's what it cost. $550 of that being the tank itself. Plus gaskets, lines, labor.
Looks like I'll be eating mac and cheese for the rest of my life .... but my Jeep will be happy.

So, vaseline job, or were they nice enough to bring in the specialized lubes?
I'm betting DAR, though.

Eric, They are talking about gas tanks, not that cooler you have installed in that picture for your beer! :D J/K, his fuel cell is between the cooler and the rear of the jeep.
P.S. That's water Antman is handing him in the picture. :D Cus his cooler is full of beer and I won't let him drink and wheel.
