This summer the kids are doing a safari theme for Vacation Bible School and they asked if I could provide a "prop". I tried to use my lifted '87 but the tires and bumpers were too wide to fit through the church doors.

On Saturday my rear drive shaft (high angle thing) gave up the ghost just as I reached the trailhead. I gotta do better maintenance! Had to drive all the way back with front wheel drive.

I think so, I hadn't greased it in a while (cardan type). It was grinding and smoking. Second time this has happened.
I guess to stay on topic with this thread, I should say my Jeep stayed in the garage on Sunday.

Got the Yota stuck (again ).... fell off embankment and got high centered...had to drive Dad's FS Dodge 3/4 ton on trail that was 2-4" wider than truck in several places, push the Toyota off the bridge then drive .25 miles backwards on same trail (kinda like backing up a short freight train ... truck seems to have a couple new big *** dents in it.... oops  ).
sorry, no pics... will try to get pic of carnage on truck
SteveOinAK
oops... forgot: came within 8-10 feet of slamming big *** moose  yesterday with Toyota (4x4).... I swear I would have almost gone under it but would have crushed cab

Yeh I run it from 10:00pm till 5:00am. It really helps allot. I just went out and checked the temp. It's actually 83 degrees. We have a play pool. It's 5'3 deep. So it doesnt stay that cool. But it's still refreshing. I like my pool around 75 degrees. I should have a cooling system put in like James is huh.

We leave our aerator on pretty much all the time. I like floating around and letting it just shower me with cool water :D

I am trying to finish up a SOA conversion to Dana 44, Dana 300 and homemade flat transfer case skid . Boy is was warm out there. Connected the rear drive shaft for the first time in 2 months, the rear wheels turn. Now if I can get the brakes to work to stop the tires.

Mine ran Axle Alley...hey, it was about midnight when we started that trail, so it WAS Sunday after all!
Then it spent the rest of the day sleeping.
It was PERFECT out in the desert Sat night. A small group of us did Elvis and AA, and I'd say it was low 80's once it got dark and cooled down (MUCH better than the 110° drive to Florence at 6PM!). Box Canyon is still damp in places, and you could feel the air cool off. As I drove home between about 2:30 and 3:30 AM, you could feel it getting warmer and warmer as I got back closer to Mesa. Probably a good 15° difference bewteen town and desert.
GOTTA get out for more night runs...

Pulled my starter (85 cherokee 4cyl ... #45).... totally blowed up
just found that had been run with starter
waiting on new one (anyone got one and/or clutch master cylinder sitting around as trade for something?)

PS weather was crappy today... tried to work on my suntan, but only got up to about 75. :D :D
Got to sit in pilot's seat of georgous Gulf Stream today (CEO of Alltel and NASCAR's Randy Newman+wife flew in Sunday)....WOW!!! (twin GE's put keep it at just over 500knts @ 35k, but could have used some 37's and a winch :D ). Pilot's were great, but wouldn't let me taxi around (think they heard what I have done to the Toyota,Case loader,Toyota again, and Dodge PU  ). Gonna see the Citation tomorrow, will try to get pics.
othere news: lil black bear (est: 275lbs) pokin around back again

just found that had been run with starterLike the starter didn't disengage after the engine was running? Did it chew up the flywheel too? I forgot to ask, are the 3 that you acquired coming home with you, or is it a case of "What happens in AK stays in AK" :)
Pilot's were great, but wouldn't let me taxi around (think they heard what I have done to the Toyota,Case loader,Toyota again, and Dodge PU).Yeah, I'm not sure how they would feel about having their ride pulled out of the mud with the front loader :D

Another person in town told me that he saw the former owner driving down the road with the starter engaged (bendex must have gotten stuck) just before it locked up.
