I am planning on making a trip to some of the harder runs around the area during labor day weekend, but I have not been on to many hard ones here. Most of the more difficlut trails I have run are either in Moab or are unnamed areas in Arizona. I have some friends coming out from New Mexico for that weekend with some pretty capable jeeps and we want to go run the terminator trails and predator. I am lookin for a possible guide who would be up for some wheeling that weekend or information about the trails, or other ideas for some more difficult trails. If I can find a leader I will post the trips as well. Thanks.

Does no one know anything about these trails?

We know the trails but we just don't plan that far ahead. I am sure you will get your leader. Post a trip on the old site and remind us here the week before you want to go.

I don't want to post a trip if I have no idea about leading the trail, just expecting someone to come along that does, then others sign up, and then what do you know the time comes and no leader. Then you have bunch a people with no where to go. I will try and figure out where to go on my own I guess.

When it gets closer to the time, post the trip on the old site and ask for someone else to lead. Somebody always volunteers.

Sounds good. How long do those trails take? Can you run more then one in a day?

I just checked what kind of jeep you run and you and a couple friends built about the same should go through two trails a day pretty easy. Remember it will still be very hot at that time.

That is why I didn't volunteer to lead right away. Your younger and have a better rear end than I do. :D :D

Yeah my friends that are coming out here have jeeps with pretty similar setups. All of them are on 35's with full lockers, so I am not too worried about the jeeps making it through. Two trails a day sounds good. I want to show them a good time, since I talked them out going to Moab to come try something new. Which trails in the Table Mesa area are the most fun?
Add Judgment Day to your list.

I want to run all these trails, but still don't know where I am going. I want to show my buddy a good time Labor Day weekend, so hopefully I will figure out where to go ahead of time.

I wonder if lockers and 33s will be sufficient?
Anyone have an opinion on that?

Yes for all 3...but that's not the problem.
You should be fine on the terms & JD...but Pred has a tendency to take chucks out of you rig...so only run this if body damage is ok and you have a good spotter/lead.
As ever it all depends on if you want to DRIVE IT or SURVIVE IT ;)

From personal recent experience, the Terminators can be run with 33" tires, modest lift and open diffs -- have done them both numerous times in my TJ -- and they only took a few hours to do two trails. You just have to drive with the goal of keeping three wheels on the ground at all times and it'll be fine. The 4.5-/4.0 ratings for Lower and Upper respectivley as found on the old site and comments about lockers are unwarranted in my opinion.
You'll want lockers on Judgement Day (at least I did) but 33s will take you all the way to the end without using the easy way through if they exist.
I have never ran Predator and am not even sure where it is.
I looked at Anaconda once... :D That one is on the list once the latest round of mods are complete.

Predator is no harder than Lower Terminator. We have run Predator with guys with open diffs on 33's and they have made it through. The only place they could not go was up the first waterfall, they had to take the bypass.
We even had one person on the trip invite a newbie who was on 33's, open and no body armor. It took some doing at the V notch to get them trough without any scrapes, but we did it.
Predator does have several places that seem really pretty easy, and that is when it will bite you back, but it can be done.
I think the hardest part of an open diff vehicle only on 33's on Lower Term will be the white line, or should I say wet line. If it is still under water there is a little bump on the rock that if you stay too far left will hit your diff, and since it is under water might make you take a few tries at it if you hit, but you definatly don't want to be too far right through that area. Would be good to run this one with someone who has run it before.
Personal opinion is that both these trail ratings are much higher than the trail warrants.

I dont think ANYONE ever wants body damage (or at least I know I dont), but I am also preparing with armor and skids etc.
Right now I'm on the fence about going with 33s or 35s for my current project (RE 4.5 SF with 3.5 springs, 1" BL and 1" MML, anti-rock and bellyup). I guess I should have just gotten the 4.5" springs, but oh well too late now.
Peeps on the jf.com board said they have the RE 3.5 and a 1.25 BL (like that 1/4 inch will make much of a difference) and they are running 35s. Decisions decisions......
Sorry GOT WAY OFF TOPIC!
Thanks for the skinny on this though.

I am running about 5.5" of lift, and 33's, I use every bit of that space when flexing. I would not even bother with 35" tires with only 4.5" of lift. Like I said I am at about 5.5" and would not put 35" tires under mine without some trimming. As for the tires my suggestion based on your lift would be 33's.
Your must have missed the posts from Eric "Devilman", he loves to roll and add a few character wrinkles to his sheet metal...LOL
I don't want body damage on mine either, that is why I don't mind taking extra time for someone to get through something if it will avoid damage to their rig. Bonus is usually if you are doing less damage to the rig, you are also doing less damage to the trail.
I have attached a picture of the 33's in action with the 5.5" lift... this is one of the spots on Predator...I hope it comes through.
