Met up with Headspace and jim at the MickeyD's a little after 10am. Misjudged the time it took to get there so next time leave 2:30 before the Flag meet and I'll be good.

Anyway, after heading to Subway to grab lunch and a quick gas stop for me, off we went to the first trail. This pic is from the starting point on the Cinder's Entrance Trail:

Unfortunately it was closed down but it that lead to an awesome run through the Sunset Crater area. Here are some of the lava flows from 1180 AD:

Afterh this little picture op, it was off to the Cinder's Loop Trail. That trail led us through the pine and around some great scenery, including this picture of where the high desert meets the forest:

and where we meet up with the powerlines for part of the run:

After finishing this trail it was pretty early in the day yet and after some discussion Sedona came up and I suggested Broken Arrow. Both of them are relatively new to wheeling with this being Jim's first time out. After some punching in the numbers on the GPS and deciding that it wasn't too far out of the way off we went.

While airing down another YJ came along driven by a guy named Craig with a few of his friends. I asked him if they were starting the trail and if they were, could we tag along. See, Headspace and Jim wanted me to lead but since I was there only once, I figured we'd have the search teams out there hunting for our half eaten corpses in a few days. Fortunately they said we could tag along and we all had a blast:

Here's Jim and Headspace tackling one of the last obsticles:

Today was also the day I got to try out my new air compressor. It worked well for the the first 3 tires and then popped off. I actually was 2 pounds short in the 3rd tire but Jim and his trusty compressor saved the day. After letting it sit though for the recommended 15 minutes once it was all said and done, it still didn't kick back on. Once I got home though it was fine so no damage done. I just need to take a few minutes between each tire so it doesn't pop on me again. I was airing up from 8 to 26 on my 35x12.50's:

Overall we had a blast of a day today. I need to pick up the book that Headspace has, it was a great book with lots of scenic trails and future good times. It was really dusty but the weather was great, the company better and I even got a business card from one of the Pink Jeep Drivers telling me to call them and speak to a Chris Davis for a job. He was impressed with my driving down this obstacle (same driver that gave me the card):

I drove up it too. ;)

Lastly the pic of the day, my gratuitous ego shot:

I couldn't find any purty flowers, though we did pass by some pretty orange ones, too quick for me to really notice them though. Oh and my lowlight of the day, killing a baby rabbit on I-17 on the way home. Silly little thing ran right under my tire even after I swerved to get out of its way. Guess it didn't realize that the middle are of that section of highway was burned out until it was too late. At least it was a quick death by MTR's.

Despite having the GPS and a bunch of maps, wouldn't you know it, we got lost!

Taking a break before we headed for the "Steps of Death" or whatever they are called. Thanks to Jamie, Jim, Cammi and I survived. It was a hoot!

Awesome pics!!!! Especially the one's all about me. :p j/k

What camera is that? They really came out well. It looks like I have some competition when it comes to picture taking here.

BTW, the more I look at you, the more I believe you've been on a few of my flights. ;) :D

EDIT: I lost 3 pounds of dirt in the shower this evening. Ugh, I was so gross. LOL

Hmmmm, this pretty much cracks me up. :D Guess you now know that trail is a loop. Glad that everyone got back safe and had a good time.

Yep, looking at the book he had I knew it was a loop, but I still would have gotten us lost a little bit. There are some trail markings but not enough to keep me on track. The only thing that stinks is we didn't go to Submarine Rock as Craig had never been there before, according to his friend, and we weren't going to seperate due to getting lost. Plus the 1/2 eaten corpses idea didn't sit well with me. :p :D ;)

Give me another two trips up there (or the Pink Jeep Tours job) and I'll be good to go. :D

Yeah, you will drive that trail so many times, you can do it blindfolded. Glad you had fun! Call me the next time you are up here--I could have gotten away for a few hours yesterday. I had a lot of Jeepers stop by for maps, but no club members. That's a beautiful shot of you driving up the slide--one for the album!

Nena,

Drop me a PM with your full name and phone number and I'll add you to my phone. Would have been nice to have another out there to run with yesterday. Though it was just a spur of the moment, let's do Broken Arrow thing. :D

I think good times were had by all. Although, I don't think Randy and Cammi will listen the next time Jaime and I say, "Sure a stock Jeep can make it. You might scrape a little bit, but there's always a bypass." Here are a few more pictures of the days festivities.

Thanks much to Randy and Cammi for letting me tag along on their Saturday adventure and a big thanks to Jaime for guiding us over the Broken Arrow Trail. I can't wait to do it again, though the next time will be with a lift and skid plates.

Jamie, I've got two picutes of you on the stairs. Where do you want me to send them? They are both a little over 1mb in size.

And, yes, Broken Arrow is in Sedona. I'm not sure about a location you can leave your trailer though.

Jim:

Great pix! Glad I didn't know what I was getting myself into! Cammi and I stopped and had dinner at Young's Farm in Dewey on the way back to Prescott and she said it was the scariest thing she had experienced and when could we go back and try it again. (This from a woman who has scuba experience in some of the out-of-the-way places on Earth you can imagine). She's addicted!

After yesterday I'm convinced I need a little more lift, a new clutch and the Dana 44. Thanks for the great adventure. I'm already planning the next attempt at Broken Arrow.

Jamie:

The camera is the one I use in a housing for scuba. It's an Olympus C-5050 and you can find them for cheap on eBay and elsewhere. I researched it for months. Very rugged little camera with outstanding res.

Bruce, you can park your trailer at our store. Broken Arrow is about 3 miles from there.

I love Sedona. It reminds me of Moab. Every time we go up there. I kick myself for not bringing the jeep. Now that we have the trailer. I can just tow it up. :D

Actually the other three brought chairs, I stole one later during lunch for my butt. :p
