Hello everyone,
My daughter found a used Wrangler. Can the dealer give you a print out of the original configuration when it was first sold?
Best regards,
Mike

Mike,
Yes the dealer should be able to print you out a build sheet. I got mine for my jeep from the dealership when I bought it.
If for some reason they won't then you can get the same thing from jeep.com

And, of course, there are a lot of people here who may be able to answer questions about it. I have three 2004 X's in the fleet.

This one is advertised with an auto transmission w/overdrive. I thought only the Rubicons have the 4 speed automatic.

All of our 2004 X's and Sports have O/D.

You can request a build sheet over the internet. Send DC an email to:
customerassist@daimlerchrysler.com and include the VIN number. They will respond pretty quick with a full list. I think I got mine in less than 24 hours

The 4speed autos with overdrive came out in 2003. Much nicer than the old 3 speeds (at least I think so). I got my build sheet from a DC employee who was a member of Jeepforum. It's very interesting to read. Come to find out my 03 X started it's life as a rental car in Hawaii

Does anyone have an extra owners manual laying around that needs a home. I will buy it. We live in the 60th Street and Thomas Road area, Phoenix.

I dont have an extra but you can get one here http://www.books4cars.com/result2.htm?findyear=2004
its like $34.00 which is a bit pricy to me. I read through mine and didnt really learn much at all. Except that no matter what it says about being about to go into 4lo while rolling at 2-3 mph, it can't be done and sounds very terrible. That site also sells the shop manuals which in my opinion is a much better buy.

I would tell you that if the dealer can't or won't give you a build sheet it may be time to find another dealer...

They are pretty common on ebay and you can usually find a deal if you aren't in too much of a hurry.
