Is it to early too early to start planning the annual trip to Crown King? In light of the road erosion should we still plan the trip? Need to hear from folks who have been on the trail since the spring rain.

Looks like August 20th Saturday might work.

I went up in March.
Pretty much a different trail from last year.
I made use of the rock rails and t-case skidd, but, needed no stacking/spotting/strapping.
I don't like gas'n it or beatin' up the rig to get places, and never had to.

See sig for little rig.

It is not to early at all. I usually run the early bird run but this year have not figured out how to do it as with the new D60's and 39.5" tires I can not drive home on the freeway and I do not like the idea of heading down Sunday morning to Lake Pleasant as
1) I do not like leaving my truck and trailer in that area over night.
2) It will be getting warmer instead of cooler as I run the trail.
We may need some new trip leaders to step up.

I've been up a couple of times in the last 3-4 months stock XJ, 30in. tires no problems. It is deffinetly a harder trail but stockers should be able to do it easy.

Well I have never been a trail leader so it's time for me to step up. I have posted on the old site to lead the 6 AM run. Hackle I am admirer of your rig and all you do for the 4x4 community. Hopefully you'll figure out a way to make it up to Crown king with your rig.

Im just curious. Are you guys open to other vehichles......say a scout. Im the nicest dude in the world so if you guys dont have any objections, i would like to tag along. It would be a cool trip before i head off to college.

Its not stock, especially with full-size axles, 36's, and just some home built stuff. i probably wont run all the hard obstacles due to the lack of spare parts, but i would love to just drive along.

Thanks.

Keep the updates going on this run. This far in advance, I can schedule myself off for Saturday, August 20.

I will be driving in from Sedona, so a later run for me: 8 - 9 AM? I have run the section from Wagoner Road, up, several times, but not all the way from Castle Hot Springs. I would be happy to tail gun, or lead a group from the Prescott/Kirkland Jct. side. Anyone from the North half of the state interested?

You can find more information at

http://www.azvjc.org/OldSite/Default.asp

You'll need to go to the trips page and then go to the date range that covers 8/20/2005 you see the first scheduled run. Over the next few weeks more runs at different times should be scheduled

We (RockRats) are throwing around the same idea either Bumble Bee or Turkey Creek.
We can trailer to the location then dirve back and forth to Crwon King.

Rick I have run that trail about two years ago. Lets do it as part of the Crown King run. I know where it is and I think you have run it before the rains.

The pics I've seen are not the Bumble Bee creek trail that I've run. Those are a different trail.

That Bumble Bee creek trail we ran was short and I don't think the rocks are nearly as big as what I've seen in those pics.

It does look like they would be in the same area....by the looks of the rocks and the lay of the land.

Woody

Edit.....I went back and looked at the pics. That last pic is definetly the BB creek run that we ran.

Wanna go tonight?

I work outdoors all week, including yesterday, and it was just to damn hot. Last night, I set the house A/C at 70 degrees and chilled out with a tall glass of Absolut (with ice, of course).

I've ran Bumble Bee creek a few times. Its a short section, almost running underneath the bridge just this side of the little town of Bumble Bee. It looks like there are a few other trails in the area, as well.

If I cant find someone to show us where they're at, I guess we'll have to do a little exploring when it cools off.

We need to have more folks sigh up as trail leaders. Time for some of us who have been around a while to step up to lead one of these runs
