View Full Version : 02 Silver TJ w/37's - know previous owner
Sorry, no pics. A friend of mine picked up this loaded 2002 TJ, and after having it out within its first two hours he already put it on its side. :D
Anyways we are trying to figure out if anyone knows its history, as I am pretty sure it has been rolled or been on its side before.
Heres the specs.
Bought in Cottonwood, AZ - I suspect it came from PHX
2002 Silver TJ w/full doors and black soft top.
Automatic
F8.8 in rear with some sort of automatic locker
D30 in front with automatic locker
RE Long Arm (?)
37" MTR's on 15x8 AR767 (I think the orginally ower had something else)
TBT Roll Cage
TBT oil pan skid
Alum tie rod
York Onboard Air (air gauge inside)
Large front hoop, appears to have winch at one time.
Bumper mount tire carrier (not sure who's)
Trimmed front fenders
Window mounted driving lights, one is missing.

Sounds exactly like parajeepers old jeep. Post up a pic.
I don't have any pictures yet, will try to get some this weekend. I found this link on JU (http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3931000#post3931000) and the jeep looks just like it. I don't recall the AZ flag sticker on the side, and I don't see the front hoop bumper, but the rest looks just like his jeep. Anyone have any pictures of parajeepers jeep? I will try to PM him at JU, but it looks like he has gotten out of the "jeep" thing.

If it is Eric's, this is the only picture I have of it:

If it has some damage on the pas rear that would be his jeep...
We'll, so far this looks like the jeep. It does have a large front "stinger style" bumper on it which I have not seen on any pics. One thing that may make it stand out is that there is a air gauge and switch for the OBA on the inside, just to the lower left side of the steering wheel. I will be wheeling with him tommorow so I will take another look.
Thanks,
zman

It sounds like a Jeep I know. Does it have the rear seat removed? Does it have a harness system? Does it have any damage on it, underneath or body? Of course, if it came from a dealer, it will be hard to tell what they may have done to it before resale. If it is the Jeep I know, it would be a great buy, because the guy spared no expense, and hardly ever used it, and I would be jealous, because I told him to call ME first! :D

If it was Para's Jeep, You are lucky it still runs.... :D But I seem to remember it was only offroad one time..................
A WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
Joe
We took it out yesterday and the guy tipped it again, his second time in its first three trips. :D I forgot my camera again, but someone snapped afew and I hope to get them this week.
I'm pretty sure this is the jeep, the pic James posted of the front matches, except for the new front bumper. Anyone have any details on this thing or the owner, pm me if needed. I left him a PM at JU last week but have not heard from him, and JU is down. Would like to know what gears (4.88?) are in it and what kind of locker (detroit?) rather than opening up the pumpkins. I know this thing had taken a few tumbles before my buddy got it, but it runs nice and he is known to tip jeeps. He had a CJ before this one and that has been on its side several times too. :D He is quite the entertainer.

PS, Aluminum drag link already bent. Not seen one before, and not impressed with it either.

If it was Para's, I am pretty sure it has 4.88's, Detroit in the rear, Truetrac in the front, RE Long arms, Stinger front (TBT's). Look at the frame side trackbar bracket, if it is welded, then it was Para's.

Im pretty sure its open in the front, hell I drove his jeep to the shop when he got his gears set-up.
It's locked front and rear when he got it. A automatic style locker. I put a jack under it and we were able to lock/unlock the wheels by hand turning them.

4.88 lockrite front - detroit rear. all fluids were changed before I sold it to include oil, diffs, tranny, xnsfer case, and a coolant flush.
they were leaking all over teh driveway but they were changed :D
I didnt get out of wheeling just took a break. it was costin me too much money. Especially wheelin with frog
Thanks for the PM's. Sounds like this thing is a little tippy. At first I thought it was the new owner, as I have seen his previous CJ on its side 4 different times. Sounds like Eric had his share too. :D I forwarded all your information to the new owner, he may or may not contact you.
Thanks,

His best bet would be to
1. extend the wheel base
or
2. swap the 5.5 springs with 4.5 springs and go with 35's
or
3. not give a damn like I did
I prefer #2, I know he is with you on #3. Sounds like your old jeep has found the right owner.

This is good, you can cure a death wobble by going to DC? I have never and I mean never heard anything like this before. It could be rather expensive for most, but why don't you share how that works?

Temp cure James...put a steering stabalizer on it.
DC wasn't expensive for me...it was expensive for the customer! :D
