So I open my mailbox today and I see my new issue of Consumer Reports (Hey, I need to save money when I can for future mods) and they do a review on small SUVs. At the end of the reviews they have a feature of, "...a clasic revisited" here is some of the nice things they had to say:
"...handling is clumsy, and the ride is sloppy"
"...last updated in 1997 and it is quite dated"
"...the rugged interior is rather primitive"
"Body lean is notable and the steering is slow and vague"
"...Its thirsty engine performs just adequately."
"...but the touchy throttle made is hard to drive smoothly"
and the plus side it's highs were:
Offroad ability and nostalgic look
I can't believe that ANYONE would want a vehicle like this. ;)

I read very few glowing reviews of the TJ. Car and Driver, Consumer Reports, etc all seem to think that the Honda Pilot or Lexus is a better 4x4. I say, if a person would be swayed that easily from what is obviously the best 4x4 out there good riddance. :D :D

But that is all the reasons I like it :D :D
Gives me excuse for missing turns and when my line gets messed up it had to be the clumsy handling........ :D

Consumer reports wants everything to be a Volvo. We all know that the TJ performs its intended duties far better than anything else on the market. Kudos to DC for not letting homogenous pinheads design the TJ, or even look at the Rubicon!
CR lumps everything into one catogory. Porsche's have harsh rides and no cup holders so don't get one of those. They really don't take into consideration what a certain model is designed for. I am very disappointed that I pay like $5 a month to have access to their website. From computers to toasters there is not a lot of information there and some of it seems bought and paid for.

1. "...handling is clumsy, and the ride is sloppy"
2. "...last updated in 1997 and it is quite dated"
3. "...the rugged interior is rather primitive"
4. "...Body lean is notable and the steering is slow and vague"
5. "...Its thirsty engine performs just adequately."
6. "...but the touchy throttle made is hard to drive smoothly"
1. Yes, you should see the way is climbs/descends waterfalls, crawls around rocks, and the Golden Crack at Moab.
2. Yea, thank gawd I don’t have to worry about a whole new set of parts every year, hell, I got parts on my “03 than came off a 78 CJ.
3. Thank gawd the interior is primitive, I can just power wash the hell out of it and get all the dirt and mud from the last Verde river crossing on the out of there.
4. Yep, it just walks over the rocks, last thing I want is steering that is one turn lock to lock, we have to slip out tires in and out of the cracks.
5. That is if your trying to push that puppy down 101 in rush hour 80mph traffic, but when I get down in the riverbeds you can’t stop that sucker.
6. When your goal is to idle most of the time it drives as smooth crap going thru a goose.
7. Go get your boys in their Volvo’s, Lexus 470’s, VW Toureg and Honda Pilots and just follow us to Martinez Canyon. Ohh and next time you spin your puppy out due to snow on the road, ask one of them to give you a winch or strap on to get you out and see what you get. Don’t look surprised when he sends his wife down to your car with a funny pair of underwear on and she tell you to BOHICA [bend over here it comes again].

Just as others have said before:
Consumer Reports is for "consumers," Jeeps are for "enthusiasts."
And if Jeeps were entirely practical, everyone would have them. Its a good thing there are Volvo's, Lexuses, Caddy's etc. Most of them probably look at us in our unpractical Jeeps and envy us a little bit... regardless of what they read in their latest issue of "Bland/Boring/and Sensible Digest (Consumer Reports)."

Check Ebay. There is a sticker dealer there that has some good ones. I pay'd $4 for mine.

I ordered mine from out of state and ordered extra if anyone wants one. I posted them in the for sale section. With shipping they averaged out to $5 each. PM me if you need one.

Consumer report is pretty tough, but the newest Motor Trend had very postive reviews.
