I think I recall seeing a thread somewhere, about a place up in Payson, off of 87 about 3 miles past 260. can anyone tell me what the name of this place is, and more about it? trail rating? more specific directions etc etc?
Thanks
phreak
Payette Draw class ratings are from 2.5 to 5+
lower is a solid 3 and middle is a definate 4 Upper is a 5+
Take 87 to the 260 split in Payson. pass through the light and continue on about three miles. Once passed the roundy round you'll see Huston Mesa rd on the right. Turn right onto Huston Mesa rd. Follow Huston Mesa rd past the Shoo fly indian ruins. about 1 mile from the Ruins is a dirt rd that cuts off to the right as the main rd heads left. Follow this dirt road up and over the saddle back and across the second wash crossing will be a small brown sign or trail marker. I can't remember the number off the top of my head...
make the right turn and drop into the was as you cross over. Left is the 3+ and right is a fun section that takes you back to the maind dirt road.
Have fun and be safe.

I Ran This Sunday And The Upper Half Has Still Got Alot Of Water But Very Doable,(beware) As Some Places With Water Only Look Ten To 15'' Deep In All Actuality Its 3 To 4 ' Deep. The Last Waterfall Has Stopped Runing But The Pool Is Still 6' Deep.the Mesa 4 Wheelers Will Be Running On Saturday Of The 4th Of July Weekend.we Ran Into Plenty Of Rattlers So Be Very Careful............T.C.'s Toy

You'll do fine on the easier sections
This trail is one way in, and one way out, correct? Are there any other trails in the area? Also, if I remember that area, there is not much for shade, but if you drive the main road way back you get into the pines. Is there any camping in the area with shade.

I've only ran the trail once. It was my first trip with my Jeep and still my favorite so far. If I remember correctly, the service road runs along the trail. We just pulled off the trail about halfway and camped in the pines. Someone with more experience will have better info though.

Maybe someone can step up and leap/post a trip. I'd like to do this trail as well and should be free this weekend. Any traffic concerns up that way this coming weekend ?

I'd like to do that trail again, but I'm planning on doing the night run to Crown King Saturday night. Hmmm....

Any interest for this coming weekend ? I would probably come up and camp and preferably wheel on Sunday.
Anyone willing to lead ? I'm good up to 4 rated trails.
It's only supposed to be 100 degrees up there, with a low of 64.
PM if necessary.
