This is a copy of the letters I sent out. Make some minor changes and please send out some e-mails. I will give you the contacts for the Committee Chairman. The AZ links are in the sticky on the Land Use forum. We need letters to both our Senators and your Rep. They all use the web forms which makes it easy to cut and paste.

Re: Senate Transportation Bill (Section 166)

This section of the bill addresses Invasive Species and is just the start of the next environmental nightmare to start litigation on any land area. It will infringe on private property rights and the management of Federal Lands. I am including a small section of a quote from a member of the California Native plant Society that addresses this issue.

“Just spoke with a CNPS (California Native Plant Society) person and she is totally against the bill; as plants which are invasive in one state are native plants in another. Even some non native plants are welcome in one place and not another. Russian Olive seems to be "invasive" in parts of Utah and not so in most of California. It also provides food and cover for birds, bighorn and deer. Some species of native plants require an expert to determine if it is not the native specie look alike. One species of non native may benefit bee men and women and not be beneficial to ranchers. So the government would be "playing God". She indicated to me this is something that should remain a local issue.”

I am an avid outdoorsman and do not want to see the management of these Federal areas go back to being run by the court system. I still remember all the wild fires in the west due to a court run system. Invasive Species is the radical greens key to controlling every square inch of land in the United States. Most Agricultural crops and domesticated pets clearly fall into this category. This may seem extreme an interpretation right now but did anyone imagine when it was passed what the Endanger Species act would turn into over the years? Please remove section 166 from the Transportation Bill. I will be contacting my Senators and Representatives to convey this point also.

Thank you for your time.
