If you haven't been following along take a look at this thread
http://www.virtualjeepclub.com/showthread.php?79203-Enlisted-in-the-Air-Force

My wife and I arrived at Kadena Air Force Base on August 29th, our first PCS and assignment together. I wanted to create a place for my family and friends to see my journeys and couldn't think of a better place than the Arizona Virtual Jeep Club. To everyone that helped me through the first thread I want to thank you for your support once more. Enough ramble, onto the Adventures!

1997 Mitsubishi Pajero Junior 4x4 (USA model is the Montero)
I am planning to give the Pajero a simple 2" budget lift along with 31" all terrain tires to help explore the back country here. Very little rocks, mainly muddy back trails.

Amazing cars there. Just in your pics, I see a Integra Type-R, Sweet G37, and a Skyline! Not exactly sure why you picked the Pajero with those options available, but enjoy.

Keep the pics coming and thank you for your service :patriot:

I actually am planning to buy the wife the Infiniti Skyline GT3550 (G37) on Monday of next week. The baby has Louis Vuitton interior, leather seats, navigation (in Japanese), 19" wheels with good tires, lowered performance suspension, and custom catback exhaust. I will be importing back home either a Land Rover Defender, FJ-40, AMG, or some type of Rice Burner sports car.

Kadena Air Force Base

Finally got the call for housing! We have been offered an apartment either on Kadena (1st floor and pet friendly / 760 sq feet) or Camp Foster (5th floor not pet friendly / 1260 sq feet). I think we will go with Kadena as I work on Kadena and it is pet friendly.

I will try and remember to post up some pictures of our currently assigned temporary living quarters.

Nice pictures. Those animals seem expensive. I am wondering what the cost of living is over there? Thanks for your service.

Cost of living is roughly the same as the United States. Right now $1 is equal to 104-106 yen, one yen being equal to about a penny. Every month the Air Force pays me an extra $747 for cost of living even though the American dollar is worth more. No complaints though.

I lived there from Dec 1965 to Jan 1968 I bet a lot has changed since then. The Cars then were just the old Datsun B210 or older American cars that were called island cars there wasn't much else, but top speed allowed on the island was 45mph . Island cars shipped over by Americans and left there when they left the next person come in would buy it and sell when he/she left. We had an Island car 1950 Dodge and brought our 1963 Rambler Wagon over but we shipped it back when we left.

Groovy Pics. Brings back memories. I was their in 76and 77. This was my ride being hassled by the PoPo. Subaru van with a 2 cylinder 360cc two stroke motor. Got me all over that island. Do they still have the Motocross track on the backside of the base? That was my hangout.

Unfortunately I have not yet had much time to explore the base (I even got weekend duty today). I will definitely keep that track in mind next time I am about the base exploring.

And Bugs, no I don't plan to put tons on the Pajero. However, I am banking about $750 per month which is being pooled into the LJ fund. Its getting the JK gear conversion and RCV axles with ARB lockers.

Unofficial Torii Beach
September 14th, 2014

We tried to find Torii Beach but ended up at this beach instead. Turns out Torii Beach is actually accessed through Torii Army Base... Black Things Part Two is from the actual Torii Beach (other photos and videos are from an unmarked beach about 1/4 of a mile down the shore line).

Set video settings to 1080p for best quality!

Andarial, our Shiba Inu and Yellow Lab mix puppy
Andi for short

She is about three months old now and here mother is a registered pure breed Shiba Inu and her father is a registered pure bread Yellow Lab. Why the owners decided to use this mix I do not know but we definitely love the newest addition to our family. I cannot wait to take her Jeeping and see how she does!

Disclaimer - Our other dog, Wile, is currently residing back in the states with my mother in law until we are able to bring him down. My goal is to have him arrive on my next TDY when my wife's mother comes down for a visit.

For some reason the Kadena Mini BX has more alcohol beverages than a WalMart. What does that say about our military? I had to grab a few pictures for your enjoyment.
For $14.95 I really could not refuse these adult beverages. The one on the right has a coffee recipe on the tag, I plan to try it Christmas!

Nice stuff with the snake in it - that certainly goes one better than tequila 'con gusano'; with a worm. I got a kick out of the 'deer penis wine' the stores sold in China. Anything for an aphrodisiac, I guess.

Real snakes in alcohol?:puke:

Demlockian
12-23-2014, 08:22 PM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habushu

There are two methods of inserting the snake into the alcohol. The maker may choose to simply submerge the snake in the alcohol and seal the bottle, thus drowning the snake. Alternatively, the snake may be put on ice until it passes out, at which point it is gutted, bled and sewn up. When the viper is thawed and awakens, it will quickly die in an aggressive striking manner, which is what most producers look for.

Be good to the geckos, they eat lots of bugs!
