Ok, it's taken a couple of days to reply (had to turn the water on, get the boilers fired up (hot water is good!!!), get the septic  system working, and at least one vehicle (have 6 in various stages of repair). For those who I didn't tell, I'm up in AK for the summer helping my mother run the lodge ( HTTP://BeartrackInn.com ) for the summer. It's freaking freezing up here (lower 40's at night and upper 60's durning the day :D .... cooling off this week to mid 50's ).
Woke uo the other morning to an unscheduled guest (see pics). Guy has been poking around the shop last couple of days... yesterday I turned the corner and he was right there (about 10-12 feet away)... have been told not to show fear (yeah right, his weight is only in the mid 500's    ) so I I just started yelling "hey bear, get out of here".... when he turned and started walking away I actually threw a stick at him (after carefully calculating time to get to the building :D ).

hope all is well down there, really missing my Jeeps... I mean wife and kids :D :D ... will send more pics, including the Jeep I have to work on up here (I think it needs a little bondo/body work)

Intruder alert!

Wow, AK huh? Sounds like you'll come away from this with a good experience. Jeep withdraw...been there!

Not so much Jeep withdrawl, JeepING withdrawl (surrounded by national park on 3 sides, water on the fourth). Got a Jeep up here to work on (like I'm gonna have the time).... it's a peach too: '72 CJ5 304 V8, T18 4spd, 44 flanged rear... just a little rust problem (pics to follow)

Only an Arizonian would consider temps in the 40's freezing  That was still shorts weather in Oregon :D

Enjoy your stay there. I wish I could join you. Look forward to pics of the CJ.

The middle pic seemed al little out of focus. Remember, for the best pics, get as close as you can to your subject and take plenty of time to get a good focus. :D

Steve,

I spent a few months up in Anchorage right out of high school and loved it since my parents weren't there. You should feel fortunate not to have the mud freeze over night like concrete. Trade places with you any time, send me info on the lodge and when she needs help maybe we can barter, praetorian2851@yahoo.com.
