I've been doing probably a little to much research before going out and getting a trailer. But I'm just that way.
I want to be able to stuff it in my garage, due to HOA issue's. So I did the whole measuring thing. I talked to a few people who have different dimension trailers. To see what I could make work. So it looks like when it's all said and done. The best route is going to have to be a custom trailer. I wanted to find one used. But that doesnt look like a possibillity. Based on the room I have to work with.
The dimensions I have to work with are.
Garage space. The depth is 19ft. 7 inches. The width I dont want to exceed, is 8 ft. I do have a little extra room. But dont want to use it if possible.
So then I started checking with all the recommended trailer outfits out there. To name a few. Carson, big tex, deer valley, ect. there all about the same in price. To get a dove tail, with electric brakes with a reinforced tongue to axles, and a completely decked floor. It runs approxamitely $1900.00
I found a place out in Apache Junction called Gravely Trailer. That builds there trailers on site. They can build me one thats 15 ft. x 8 ft. That has 76 1/2 between the fenders. My jeep is 74 from outside to outside of the tires. So I'll be able to drive it on without driving over the fenders. With a dovetail, electric brakes, and the reinforced tongue to axle brace, with the color of my choice, for $1695.00 + tax & lic. They do all the licensing and it's for lifetime.
Can anyone offer up any info about this place. Good or bad. And also. Do you see any problem going with a trailer thats 15 ft X 8ft. wide as far as handling on the freeway, ect. I know that vehicle placement is crusial, and even more so with a shorter trailer. I believe the ratio is. 60 percent of vehicle weight needs to be in front of the trailer axles. And 40 percent behind. Does this sound right.
Thanks for your insight, Bruce
