I'm gathering all the parts necessary to install a York OBA system. I plan on using the bracket and serpentine clutch from Kilby, and hopefully find a cheap York 210 someplace else. I want to avoid modifying the stock air filter box by installing an aftermarket intake such as the ones made by K&N (http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=57-1514-1) or AirAid (http://www.airaid.com/310-110_jeep.asp). Will this work, or will I have to modify those as well?

That is the one I used on my air setup and the nice thing it is metal so I just drilled a hole welded a bung on it and that is the intake side to my york.
Also my bumpers are my airtanks. :D
I will try to take some photos of it all today and put them on my webshots.
let me know if you need any help on this.

Is there a reason why modding/relocating the stock air box is not an option?

The K&N filters simply allow all the fine dust to enter your engine. I'm not sure what advantage that has over the stock filter.

No, I don't really have a reason--or at least not a well thought out one. I suppose I buy into the high performance intake system hype and that if installing one would make my OBA setup eaiser then I'd go for it.
Which brings me to another question. I've read your AirAid and Pre-Charger writups--are you unhappy with the performance of those mods? I notice that AirAid now makes a washable precharger (http://www.airaid.com/prefilters.asp). Do you think the AirAid setup with filter and precharger would outperform the stock airbox?

Nice write-up on your site, Stu. Hadn't seen that one.

Thanks Bill.....every now and then someone contacts me and volunteers a write-up. If it is a good one, I'll make some room for it and host it.
bmblum....the K&N filter and Airaid tube is long gone and the factory air box is back. I couldn't see sucking dirt into the engine and keeping the pre-filter clean enough to not restrict engine performance was just becoming a PITA.

That's good to know, thank you. I was just looking at Kilby's site and noticed that they say, "the stock airbox can be used but the fit is tight." I think I'll try to squeeze it all in there first. If that doesn't work, then I'll have to decide whether to relocate the box or go aftermarket.
