So it started out with a meet time of 9am at the corner of Cave Creek Rd. and Carefree Hwy. I arrive one minute late and no one is in sight. Come to find out the group had already left so therefore I was left there on my own, a little disgruntled since I wanted to see this little scenic trail that was supposed to be run.
So I decide that I didn't want to call it a day, considering I don't have another weekend to Jeep for a while. I headed back to civilization then on to Rt.303 (had a breif rest to clean the bright orange paintball splatter off the hood and windshield and call the cops on the dude shooting off a bridge over the 303). I then proceeded down the Sun Valley Parkway to I-10 West. I got off exit 81 and proceded until I hit Eagle Eye Rd.

Once there I decided to do a trail in the AZ book, Harquahala Peak aka Harquahala Mountain National Back Country Byway.

On the way up we passed a few different trails that we didn't get a chance to look at. This pic was froma bout 4 miles in:

Gratudious Jeep Shot!!!

The trail was rocky and a little washed out in spots, not difficult by any means. There was only one patch of concrete (I seem to remember Stu talking about how they paved it at some point). The concrete was groved and about the length of a football field, appeard to be placed in an area that seemed to wash out a lot:

The spot that appears to be white (center of pic) is the concrete.

Took a few hours just because a friend and I looked around the top for a while. They had some great views, interesting facts about the Observatory and the now hiking trail up there, and we watch some of the dark looming clouds roll in.
