My dad's XJ (94 bone stock except for the tow bar, 4.0L automatic) has developed a starting problem - it seems to be a fueling problem, but I'm really not sure.
It hesitates to start - turn on the key, and it turns over without starting for a bit. Key off, then key on again, and it starts right up - no apparent runtime problems. Tried leaving the key in "run" for 10-15 seconds to see if fuel pressure in the rail would come up, but it didn't seem to make a difference. No temperature dependance that we can see.
It seems like it is not getting full pressure in the fuel rail on the first try to start. Any ideas where to look/how to debug/what to replace? It had a rough run problem not to long ago - a new CPS took care of that.
