West side wheelin' this saturday! 4/16

This weekend will be my last weekend in AZ. I will be separting from the Air Force and moving back to CA on friday next week :( .

I want to hit a trail out here in the WEST VALLEY but not the usual White tanks (appitizer, tax collector, firebird). I wanted to see if there are any other trails out this way that might be a little closer than Table Mesa. I was planning on meeting up about 7am :eek: (or earlier if there are other crazies out there :cool: ) and need to be home around 1pm. Just post up and we'll head out or a trail suggestion would help (3.5-4.0)! Hope to see a couple of ya!

Everyone who is anyone will be honoring the late, great Ed Melendy this Sat. Put some gas in your XJ and go to Florence. Besides, there should be Plenty of "Rocky Mountain" butts around since its country thunder as well.......:)

okay...okay, I think i might head out there. whats the directions and time?

Supposed to kick off around 2pm or so, I'm sure people will be there earlier and showing up through the day. Not sure of the best way to there from the west side, but once you get to the 60 on the east side, keep going east till you hit the Florence Junction/79 turn off and head south. Continue down for about 10 miles or so, I've never really measured the distance, and look for the Cottonwood Canyon turn off on the left side of the road, there's a small sign on the right side. There might be people sitting there waiting to go down there already too. If not just follow the road all the way down, past the ranch, through the wash till you get to the T-intersection, make a right and follow it around the corner, you should come up to the group then.

My friend and I are going to leave the AMPM on the corner of Glendale Ave and 101 at 0530 to head up to Table Mesa till about 1200 or so. If anyone wants to go just give me a call anytime at (623)570-1519, I will be up till about 0200 working on the XJ or meet us up there. If someone could PM me some directions and maybe a hint on which trails to do that would also be great. Thanks...
