I need to have 1 row added to the top of my existing block wall (approx 65 feet), and one end of the wall extended out approx 8 feet to make it even with the end of my house.
Anybody in the club do block work, or know someone who would be able to take on this somewhat small job??
Thanks
Rick

I got a number for you, but he is not on the board (or a wheeler, actually).
email me at glenn at uselessfurball dot com if you get no responses from members. I'd rather they have the first shot at your business.

Rick,
Did you find anyone? If you did how did it go?
I need a wall put up before my pool is done, so I can pass inspection. I will need 2 gates made too, they need to be self-closing/self-latching. Somehow I need to make the RV gate for the Jeep self-closing and self-latching (I think I just need a spring, the latch works fine). The wall and gate project needs to be coordinated with the pool company, so they can get equipment in-and-out, plus be done at inspection.
Also: do you know where I can get an automatic closer for my arcadia door?
{Edit} They start digging this week and the contract says, 60 days max from excavation to finish. Just an FYI for a time frame.

Hey James.
My RV gate on the old house was self closing on one side. The other side had a pole that went into the ground that you could lift to open the gate. Seemed to satisfy the inspectors.
My patio door is a Klozit. Just called them out last week to fix my sliding door. Found em in the phone book.

I will get a spring for the latching side of the RV gate.
Thanks Bruce I will call them. I was hoping for something to install myself on the arcadia door. Maybe I was hoping for the wrong thing; the arcadia door is very hard to shut/open right now, they will probably have to fix that first.

They replaced pretty much everything. My door had the same problem as yours. My wife had to use both hands to open the thing. Now it slides like glass. LOL.

I couldn't bring myself to pay $20 a foot, so I did it myself:

The last section was added, and the gate was bought/built from Home Depot.
I have a new found appreciation for bricklayers. It's definetly hard work.

I am still trying to figure out if I can get 7' without a permit.

(5) Signs in accordance with the Chandler Sign Code [Chapter 24].
(6) fences, walls, landscape screens not exceeding seven (7) feet in height adjacent to rear and side property lines and not to exceed three (3) feet in height adjacent to front yard.
(7) Swimming pools, private, in accordance with Article XXII, section 2204 [2205] of this Code.
(8) Agrarian subdivisions, subject to:

(b) Excluding household pets, the raising of poultry, rabbits and other small domesticated animals provided they are contained within a fence or cage.
(c) All animals must be contained in a stock-tight fence and/or corral. Such fence or corral shall not be permitted closer than one hundred (100) feet to the front property line. For corner lots, no such fence or corral shall be located closer to the side right-of-way line than the principal building.
(d) Field crops, including vegetables and fruit trees.
(e) Accessory buildings used specifically for animals and fowl authorized under paragraphs a. and b. above, provided they are located within the area fenced for animals and maintain the same front, side and rear yard requirements as provided for the principal building.
(Ord. No. 955, § 1, 5-28-81; Ord. No. 3063, § 3, 11-18-99)
I called the city the other day and they said, I needed a permit over 6'. It doesn't appear to say that in the code. I don't want to get to inspection and have it fail, but I want a 7' wall.
Qman, do you have someone that will do it and work with my pool company on timing?
I am not going to do it myself. It is about 175', I don't think I could last that long.
I did mine 7', one of my contractors did it for me. no one usually enforces it unless they want to be a dick..... just talk to your neighbors most of them will be fine with it.
And good Point what part are your neighbors gonna pay.. most of the time the cost is split...
JamesT ill PM you one of my guys names he lives out in Queen Creek i think. but distance is no problem usually for him

I am on an alley, no one to split any costs with on this. That's why it is not done yet ;) .
Thanks for the name.
