According to the chart at
http://www.off-road.com/jeep/cherokee/98/07_jul/speedo/speedo.html

You need a 34 tooth which is what came stock with the 30" tire kit. I
got a 33T if that would help.

Pete,

I got a few spares laying around - 40 tooth from 95 YJ, 37 tooth from when my TJ had 32" tires and 3.73 gears, and a 34 tooth which was what came with the TJ when it had 30" tires and 3.73 gears. All of these will fit the NP231 transfercase.

Let me know if you want the 34 tooth gear.

Too bad you missed the pre-run for Rice Peak with Leah today.
That would be the perfect trail for a shake down run.
The trail down by Helvetia over to Montrose Junction is a pretty
good one also. Gunsight Pass I think it is called.
Those are two that come to mind.

Jeff, if you don't get the others to get the lower price, I would recommend
you to look for something like this:

http://www.classicmfg.com/atpb21b.gif

I've seen them on sale for around $2200, I don't know if you can get them
cheaper. They are a little bit heavier, 4 wheel electric brakes and the
steel is more durable IMO.

I have one with wood on the deck and its pretty messed, I'm looking to get
one like the one of the pic.

We met at the pay station at Bartlett aired down and eventually took of at about 8:20AM. 13 Jeeps and a GMC Jimmy (with new lockers) took off and then picked up Tim in the School Bus who had gotten a late start. This group was pretty well equipped so we thought that we would be able to do the run up to Indian Springs wash before noon and then play on the hills at the end of the wash for a while. Well, as usually happens we had to do some trail repairs (Mike blew a brake hose on the FR wheel.) One of our newest rides (Glen Davis, I think - sorry if I am wrong) happened to have a brand new set of stainless web brake lines for a late 70's CJ and Mike was able to get back in business. We got back on the trail and when we got to the long hill Time got sideways and was teetering on a wash edge. It looked as though his weight in the drivers seat was all that was holding the bright yellow school bus from rolling. Tom Patterson and (again - I think) Glen did a great double winch job and extricated Tim from certain body damage. As it was all he lost was a wheel shroud.

We ended up at Indian Springs Wash and went down to the river for a swim and lunch. Then back up ISW to the play hills where we watched Mike bury his CJ to the rocker panels. See the last pictures. Tom - these should go on our web site. He was 'stuck'!

Thanks to everyone for coming. It was fun - special thanks to everyone who helped get Mike back on the trail and Tim from the gully.
