Hmmmm.....that does sound pretty good. And a great opportunity for those
who have been thinking "I'll mail my user fee in to State Trust next week"
to actually get their user permit. By doing so, those who observe realize
there are more folks recreating on State Trust Land and WE have a bigger
influence on decisions being made.

OK....the meds are kicking in and I think I'll go get some dinner. Ah yes,
much better.

No fees. It is, however, State Trust Land. I have a general use permit, as
do other members in the club. I really don't think we'd have much to worry
about.

Hello all,

I received a call from Stacy at Metcalf this evening. She was very apologetic and explained that they have been busy trying to fill orders and fight the forest fires that are going on very close to them. She admitted that they they failed in the area of customer service and she says this has been an eye opener for them. They seem like very good people that are still learning to juggle the hectic day to day operations of a startup company. From what I've read and heard they do have excellent products. Stacy offered a full refund if I wasn't happy and I said that I will install the product next week and make my decision. I have no reason to believe that it is nothing less than top notch quality.

I will post some pics and a review once I've had a chance to install the 2" motor mounts and flush crossmember early next week.

This not a suggestion but a request for info on roads.

On I-40 between Topock(Needles) and Kingman is a place called Yucca. From there is a dirt road to ghost town Signal and then my map shows the road ending at Alamo Lake. After a gap, my map shows the road starting up again on the south side of Alamo Lake and then going out to AZ93 near the intersection with AZ71. My question is: my map misprinted and the road is actually a through road or if not, is it possible to go cross country and pick up the road anyway?

The second question is about Organ Pipe Cactus NM. My map shows a "trail" going out the west side of the NM. Do you know anything about the "trail"? Is it a footpath or is it negotiable by Jeep.

My Jeep is a 2000 Wrangler 4 liter w/auto and stock wheels and tires. Let my veh (or lack of a suitable veh) enter into your advice about those roads.

Thanks

Scott,
I am very glad to see that they called you. That says a lot for the company right there, in my opinion. If they didn't care about customer service, they would not have wasted the call to get in touch with you. I hope you are happy after the install. Be sure to post some pics and give us the initial impression of it.

them quickly and let me get the steel to prototype a new set.

Stacy-Michelle,

You cracked me up with that one. I have a very good friend who has a
daughter named Dusty. Dusty's husband is named John. My friend almost
always refers to him as Dusty's John in order to NOT get him confused with
some other relative in the family whose name is also John. Of course, I
give her quite a bad time about her daughter and her John.

So....you start out with "The John that I was sending the Jeep Bikini

Yep....hmmm......so you have your own John too? <G> j/k

I deal with UPS a LOT with work - and here's the deal:

1) Mailboxes etc - I don't know if you can ***** them out for it, all
they did was box it...

2) UPS *MAY* be responsible for up to a whole $100 if you can show that
the box was really beat up in the whole process (usually not hard, they
beat up everything).

3) If you declaired a value, UPS *MAY* be responsible for up to what you
declaired. Once again, you have to show that they beat the hell out of
it.

4) UPS can also say "It wasn't packaged correctly" - but for other than
glass items and computer items, I don't believe they have a really set
requirements for packaging.

5) I'd give the guy who said UPS wasn't a moving company a piece of my
mind...then I'd give his manager a piece of my mind. They ARE a moving
company. You are using them to ship stuff!!! WHAT you ship (provided it
is legal items) is NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS. WHAT their business is, would
be to get the items to their destination in a safe and somewhat speedy
manager. THAT IS THERE JOB!

From the UPS website:

CLAIMS

What do I do if my shipment was damaged?
Call UPS Customer Service at 1-800-PICK-UPS (1-800-742-5877). We will be
happy to assist you in filing a claim. If you are the receiver, call the
person who shipped the package to you and have that person handle the
damaged shipment/claims process.

How do I file a claim with UPS?
After you've spoken to UPS Customer Service, you will be given a claim
number, also known as an LDI number. Then you will need to send us the
following:

1.. A bill including your signature for the damaged goods.
2.. A copy of original invoice or statement to show value of the
merchandise.
3.. A copy of the original shipping receipt.
To obtain the mailing address of your local UPS Claims Office, call UPS
Customer Service at 1-800-PICK-UPS (1-800-742-5877).

How long will it take for my claim to be processed?
Once we receive the required information at the UPS Claims Office, we'll
typically process the claim within five business days.

Hope it helps!

Hi Jon,

Good news! OR Fab called me today and they want to install my knuckle over steering on Friday. So I went ahead and lowered the radiator with the 2" brackets that came with the body lift so I can drive it over there in the morning. Right now the transfercase linkage is disconnected but if I put in the 2" adapter plate temporarily until next week I should be able to make the run. I'm crossing my fingers.....I really want to get out this weekend. I can raise the radiator back up, install the replacement linkages, flush crossmember, and 2" motor mounts when they arrive next week. So I guess I'm in.

Woohoo!

Scott

some more of the great people in AZVJC. How about doing a gift exchange,
bring a gift, receive a gift. Could be a gag gift or something nice. I like
the idea of being between Phx. and Tucson, I live if Florence.

Speaking of living in Florence, If during the Jamboree someone breaks
something or needs a welder I would be happy to offer the use of my tools and

Subject: FINAL Saturday Run - FR42

This looks like the final list of those going on FR42 this weekend. If I missed anyone, just show up. We will definitely have time for some play.

Dale Schuler
Darren Richards
Aaron (where have you been??)
Bob Nyberg
Ken Seipp
Rick Norman
Ken (?)
Randy Davis
Mike Chatfield
John Norton
Tom Patterson
Devon Whitney + Toyota P/U
Glen Davis ** definite maybe
Scott Kruize ** definite maybe

DIRECTIONS TO BARTLETT LAKE:
Take Pima Road or Scottsdale Road NORTH to the end (Scottsdale Rd actually changes names to Tom Darlington Rd. Turn Right by the Shell Station onto Cave Creek Rd.). They both end at E. Cave Creek Road in Carefree. Go East to the Bartlett Lake turnoff. Make the right hand turn on Bartlett Lake Rd and go 14 miles to the Pay Station.

We will depart the Pay Station at Bartlett Lake at about 8AM - probably done by noon or so.

Looks as though Florence Junction is the ideal place to have our Christmas
party.
Which leaves the question: Which weekend?
Since most "real" clubs have their party the 2nd or 3rd weekend in December,
we could have ours on the 1st weekend (December 2 & 3rd)

I think a gift exchange is a good idea; something like:
If you want to participate, bring a gift. If you're a guy make it a gift
for a guy, if you're a gal make it a gift for a gal.
And we'd need to set a price range.

For the kids we could have a Santa, if we want Santa to hand out gifts then
we'll need the parents to bring them.. or something along those lines.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

- Mike

Well...we're not going to be able to pick a date in Dec w/o running across
some conflict w/ another club. My thought is to just pick a date that works
for most of us. Dec 2-3 works for me.

On gifts, my suggestion would be to not be gender based, since there will
ultimately be gifts that won't match. Rather, just make it Jeep or Jeep
related (now...how do I rape those old bumpers I've been trying to get rid
of :o). Works for guys and gals. One gift per vehicle. My 2 cents anyway.

We can organized several runs...class 2 scenic...class 3 more challenging...
and class 4.

Should be a blast.

Doug
