Hello,

I had been running 33x12.50x15 dick cepek all terrains on 15x10 rims for over a year. I have never lost a bead (though some may say I didn't air down enough). Although, I have run those tires at 7psi. One advantage to using the 15x10 would be to give a larger footprint, thereby gaining more traction. Is the two inch width difference worth it??? Also, this depends on future plans. My rims worked great, because eventually I upgraded to SuperSwamper 35x15.50x15, and a 15x8 rim would have squashed these tires. Hope this helps...

Hi folks: Dion Bozman here. I've designed some initial T-shirts for the
group that can be viewed at the following link:
http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=850496&a=6184131

Keep in mind, I haven't had much input, so I just came up with a couple
catch phrases off the top of my head. I can pretty much do anything we
decide on as a group. Remember, I can do any color shirt, any color or font
for the type, any sayings that we choose, etc., etc.

Please view the images and let me know, specifically, what you like and
don't like. Based on majority, I'll redesign and repost new images for
final approval.

Also, please do not send any ordering info to me. I'm simply handling the
design of the shirts. Thanks.

I have posted this a few times before but havnt received any interest, but
here goes one more time.....

Saturday9-23 the Casa Grande Four Wheelers will be running Jaw Breaker. We
will meet at the Circle K in Florence, ( theres two but they are across the
street from each other, no one knows why) at 7:00. If flo-town is out of your
way we will be on Cottonwood Road, near the Jamboree camp site around 7:30.
This run will be offered for the first time at this years Jamboree, so this
may be your last chance to run it before rocks are stacked. There is a trail
review for this trail on my web site www.azrocks.alloffroad.com but don't let
it scare you away.

If your interested please let me know so that we make sure we don't miss each
other on the road.

I'm stock height with 31's on a 1965 CJ-5.

Also whats the best lift as far as road friendly? I don't really 4 wheel
all that often and never really seriously. I would like to fit 33's.

Jay... are you out there? What suspension lifts do you sell for pre-72

Just a few things to get out to the group at the end of a hectic day in
cubicle land.

I got back from a vacation to Kentucky last week, so had a lot of email to
catch up on. But wanted to mention to Linda "you're welcome" for the note
on the run thru Box and Martinez Canyons a few weeks ago. I'm sure most of
you have been there it so I'll skip the trail report and just say that it
was a great day! Everyone (except for our stocker XJ which we parked at the
mining camp) drove the canyons and up to the Martinez Mill without any
difficulties. The monsoons had made their presence known to the Box Canyon
trail...it may be worth seeing before the ASA4WD event in October.

Back to that KY vacation...definitely some cool and different type wheeling
down there! They have a lot of this soft, brown, gooey stuff on the trails.
Somebody called it "mud"?!?! ;) Anyway, combine the slickness with some
steep-***** hills, ledges and rocks and you've got some pretty decent trails!
This was all outside Lexington in the Arches (Daniel Boone) Nat'l Forest -
the trails from the Jeep Jambo's and KY Challenge. And driving my buddy's
Jeep made mine feel like a toy...not only did it climb and crawl great, but
with a hard shift from 1st to 2nd (in 4lo, no less) and you could make it do
a 6-8" wheelie! Yee-ha!

Finally, what was the consensus on the trail rating for Rocker Panel Pass?
The last I asked someone, they said avoid it unless you have a locker(s)...I
don't. I'm just driving a pretty normal YJ (4" lift and 33's) with an
aversion to steep hills (yes, carbureted!).

Subject: Wobbling Front End FIXED...

Wobbling resolved!!!

Well as many of you can tell I was not happy with the shops orginal
performance. I contacted the service manager and explained to him I felt as
if I just paid $120 for a tire rotation, since the trac bar did not fix it.
He asked if I wanted the old one back in, then some hem haughing around
since I was still getting a vibration that felt like a wobble in the making.
He offered then to do the additional work to solve the problem(i.e. balance
the tires, etc...) for free. I like that price.

I took it there today, after the work was done no more wobble from the front
end. I do still have a problem with the bad wear damage on the rears
causing a little vibration(the shop cannot fix that), but my Jeep is finally
driveable!!!

So while I did pay $120 for a trac bar, which may have been part of the
problem, they did the extra work which did not cost me anymore and all is
well.

Also while no impressed with the short quick fix(that did not) I was happy
in the long run that they did resolve it without additional financial burden
on me.

Thanks to all that replied.

If I were to do it again I would use 3/4 Heim for the extra bite into the rod. If you or anyone wants any kind of custom built metal anything give him a call.. Justin 602.509.4550.. It's a cell and tell him your from the AZVJC.
He is trying to make some money on the side to start a metal fabrication business..

You could get an RE Chromoly rod. Very strong. I've not had a problem w/ mine...though I did bend one about 6 months ago. The nice thing about c/m is that it really doesn't weaken much w/ a bend....and is pretty difficult to bend in the first place.

I bent my tie rod on Log Corral. Doews anyone have suggestions for a stronger replacement? This one isn't bent bad but I think a stronger one would be a good idea and I could strap this one on somewhere as a spare.

Howdy all: Well, the air conditioning (I know, I know, it's not hardcore, but this is Arizona dammit) seems to have taken a crap. Yesterday it worked fine. Today after work, I turn it on and it emits a horrible shrieking-type noise and doesn't blow ANY air, hot or cold.

Ideas? Bad compressor? Out of charge? Anything? Or can someone recommend a good shop in the East Valley/Foothills area where I won't get jacked? For reference, it's a 94 YJ Sahara with factory air, that has worked well up to this point.

Thanks,

Where to begin.
Originally, it started out as a small idea I had when I
discovered the road about a year ago. It was what appeared to be a road up
to Crown King from Table Mesa or Black Canyon city.
I checked topo maps, it appeared to go through to within 3/4 of a mile
to the old FR52 from Packer. The upper end of the road from Packer has been
closed due to the "Horsethief wilderness area" designation in the area. I
finally got to wheel it this weekend. It didn't go through as I had
expected. At least not in the sense of passable by vehicle travel.

Our attempt makes for a good story though, so here goes.

I dropped my truck and trailer off in Black Canyon City. I drove the Maggie
Mine trail up into the Bumble Bee trail with Eric in his YJ. Greg Banfield
And Chet were on Quads. We got as far as Cleator, when Greg's wife Dodi and
Glen caught up to us in his CJ-7. We went up the hill (the front way), and
took a pause for the "b" cause at the saloon and hotel on the west side of
the street, before heading on up. Eric had turned around to head back home
in his YJ, he was out of time. When we finally arrived at Tip Top
trailhead, Stu was already there. I FINALLY MEET THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE
LEGEND, Stu Olson!!
Brief introductions, I began bowing feverishly,(in true to form "we're not
worthy" fashion) before he sent me scampering off for firewood. It was
getting dark. Greg Chet and Dodi weren't staying up there,
and now their time was up, so they headed back down the hill. Keith, Rob and
Becky were next to arrive in Keith's YJ. Stu and I were swapping stories and
pouring over the maps for a plan of attack like 2 generals chasing
victory......or not... Anyway we were interrupted by the clamorous entrance.
"Friends of yours?" Stu asked. To which I replied, " Just wait, It gets
worse!!" Stu wisely decided on the "peaceful" campsite he already
established and sent us down the way. We lit the fire. It was Big. Fair
warning if you camp with us. Don't worry, you won't hurt our feelings!

The trio wanted to go back to town for a Fireman's fund raiser that
promised lots of excitement and fun. I opted to seclude myself in camp,
enjoying the magnificent view of the city lights, the moon, the peace and
quiet of the mountains and the cool breeze blowing thru camp. I am a self
proclaimed complex and diverse man, which would explain The Kid Rock cd
blaring from my stereo the next morning......

The trio came back......at 2:00am, I woke and joined in on the party, which
ended at 3:00am. I woke with the sun at 5:30am, rekindled the fire, ate some
of the most magnificent one's "most magnificent Breakfast burritos". Great
Job, Stu!!

Ross never arrived, until now, so we broke camp while he attended to his
last minute details. The most exciting part of the trail is the first
600-800 yards of near vertical decomposed granite (no traction) hill. Which
rises approx 1200 feet on the Topo. The remainder of the trail was pretty
much a bust, since we had to turn around and come back..... No one was
looking forward to tackling the hill, but unless we go up, we can't leave.
Ross was 1st, and made it up the 1st section with grave difficulty. The
second section, he winched himself up, due to some advice from me to try the
hill in first gear low. He made good progress, I didn't want him to lose the
progress he made to this point without breaking, so I advised him to winch,
and so he did. Next up was Keith Auble (Crus) and, while we were getting
Ross' Jeep in position to winch the rest of us up, Keith DROVE to the top!
As all our jaws dropped in amazement, Keith was beaming ear to ear, and high
fiving us. Next was Stu, he too winched after making fantastic progress,
however a rock which his Jeep slid into while struggling for traction,
managed to scratch his rim and partly tear his valve stem. It didn't leak,
and the wise thing to do was winch from this position, to prevent further
damage.

I was last up the hill, and having the advantage of watching what worked
and what didn't, I drove up in 2nd gear 4lo with a whole lot of dust and
cool air under my tires. We all made it to the top after that, stacking our
Jeeps in celebration (childish, I know, but it was my idea....).

Those who went thanks for the wonderful memories........... Then there
was the trip down to civilization. But that is another adventure all
together!!

I can say that wheelin' with Bill, Ross, and Keith was one of the most
memorable adventures of my summer. Now some of you may think that I must
have had a really boring summer, but rest assured, I got more intense 4
wheelin' in those first and last 800 yards of trail than I managed to get on
several other runs all combined. As Bill mentioned to me as I was scoping
out the trail Sunday morning...."There are a few spots where the pucker
factor gets pretty high. You might find your Jeep wanting to swap ends
while going down the trail." (I didn't tell him it was the going up part
that had me a bit more nervous!) ;^)

Bill and I had attempted to hook up on a trail, any trail, for most of the
summer. Being on this trail with him was probably the best way to catch him
in his natural environment. Ross did a great job with his newly built up
CJ-7 (if you can call it that anymore). Keith with his special technique of
bouncing along the top of the ruts while cruising up the hill with 3.07
gears still leaves me wondering just how he did it.

I look forward to the next run. Can we find a road that goes somewhere this
time? <G>
