Subject: Roxie's Intro...

Hey everyone! I joined yesterday, thought I would send out a little (big?) note to say hi to everyone and introduce myself. For anyone that does any digging....no, I don't *live* near Arizona right now. I'm in Seattle. But, I did graduate from Arizona State (I know, most of you are probably Wildcat fans), and am looking into moving back (just sent an app to the City of Mesa the other day!). I will, however, be in Arizona mid-October, and I know there's some sort of run always on/around my birthday. Maybe I'll be able to tag along?

My rig: 95 Red YJ - She's Canadian, so technically not a "Wrangler", Her name is Roxie, License plate says "GODDSS" (started as a hockey thing). I've had her just over a year, and only got into wheeling last March (oddly enough, a trip to Arizona and hanging out at a run with the Copperstate 4WDC got me into this stuff). I recently did a shackle lift to handle the 31s I inherited *really* cheap. I have some JKS quicker disconnects sitting on the living room floor waiting for some quality time with the local welder, and about 70% of the crap necessary to do a SOA, just waiting for the weekend free and the rest of the parts (SYE & Drive shaft). Oh, and new Detroit Locker sitting in the closet, waiting for me to re-gear (I won it, and requested the one for lower gears to get me moving on that project). I don't know much about vehicles, but plan to do all work myself with a little direction. Being that I don't have a garage, it's taking longer!! But, I am in awe as to the!
amount of stuff I have learned in the past 6 months!!

I started up a small women's jeep website, which is going to end up being more technically aimed (eventually!) - but right now is a little bit of a show and shine. Any girls out there want to send some pictures of your rigs, I'd love to add them on!! www.TheJeepGoddess.com

Hmmm....anything else just ask!! Oh! And if anyone has any details on a run the weekend of the 14 October - please let me know. Depending on how the next month works out, I'll either be there for the weekend, and will beg someone to let me ride shotgun, or I'll be there for the week with my Jeep, or, heaven forbid the City of Mesa likes me and I'll move there!!!

Ok, for everyone interested,

What: Lake Pleasant to Crown King to Prescott Exploration
Where: Meet at the Lake Pleasant Turn Off. (State Hwy 74 and
Castle Hot Springs Rd)
The plan is to leave early enough to be in Crown King
before noon. Hopefully we won't run into any traffic
at the ledge before Oro Belle. After a short stop in
Crown King for lunch, we'll head on toward Battleship
Butte to find the trail from there to Palace Station.
Once at Palace station, it's an easy 2wd dirt road to
Prescott. For those not wanting to continue after
lunch, there is an easy 2wd trail down from Crown King.
When: Meet at 7 am, Rolling out at 7:30. If you are a little
late, you should be able to catch up with us on the
Castle Hot Springs Rd.
CB: Channel 4.

This will be an all day trail, bring lunch (or money to buy lunch
at Crown King), lots of drinks and water.

Please let me know if you are planning on making this trip, Thanks,

Mike Chatfield

todd,
if you are going for looks and not better off-road capability (which i dont
know why, but some people do) go with the spacers stu mentioned. however if
you are looking for new suspension, get the explorer pro-comp 2.5" lift
complete with long travel shocks for $300. explorer pro-comp makes rubicon
express springs so you know they are good. the kit takes 2-4 hrs depending
on tools and experience. then all else you need is a steering stabelizer,
$29.50, and you are set. this is the same lift i have on my tj and i run
31's. it is the best lift for the money. as far as adjusting the t-case,
it isnt a must. i didnt and drive many miles on the highway and in town no
prob.
just my 2 cents

Incidently, this is the hill that us Jeepers know as CJ Hill.

I have a map I can post a link to if someone needs further direction.

OK everyone - now as a member of the Pacific Northwest 4WDA I have to do my "member duties" and try to sell you all some raffle tickets. If you get at all offended by this type of stuff, just hit delete now! Most clubs have a yearly raffle for a winch or whatever, well, our association raffles a WHOLE DANG JEEP!!! It's loaded with accessories (winch, lift, etc, etc) - check it out at http://www.pnw4wda.org/99raffle.html - tickets are $3 - and I'm gonna be getting a big ol' bunch of them to sell this weekend!

Now - the WAY COOL part is that if you're not a member of www.paypal.com - you can get a ticket for FREE!!! If you sign up with paypal (to send money over email), you get a $5 bonus for signing up! (brownie points for me, if you sign up through this link - https://secure.paypal.x.com/refer/pal=stacy-michelle%40thejeepgoddess.com - I get $5 too!) - and you can use that to buy your first ticket. Now, if you want to buy some raffle tickets, I am asking that you send $3.00 each ticket, and 33 cents for postage (since I have to mail them to all you far-away zonies). If you'd rather mail a check - you can make it out to PNW4WDA for $3.00 each ticket you want - and then just enclose a SASE, or a stamp. If you'd like to do that - please email me for my address...that way I can be looking in the mail for it!

Just trying to help fund another wonderful 4-wheeling association - and the damn cool prize helps out!

I started to hear a clunck under my floor boards while in 4 wheel drive and
when I went down to check it out I noticed that my transmission was no
longer conected to my transmission mount. The two bolts that connect the
two were missing. My question does anyone know what size they are the
dealer told me that they do not stock them they do not know what size they
are and they are 6.00 dollars to order them and 2 weeks for .50 cent bolts.

I have a 1980 CJ7 with a straight six and a borg warner SR-4 transmission
but I was told that all of the bolts are the same.

Thanks,

It shows my bank account as unverified - I just did the steps to verify that, it will be verified within a couple days. So, if it makes you feel better, you can wait til it's verified so your money send is insured! :) I'll be selling them up til the last week or so before the convention (I think in January). I'm sure I'll announce it once or twice more before then! Thanks!

Mike,

Can you send post this to our heroic moderator and the AZVJC. I have
unsubscribed my work email account (p14175....) from the AZVJC. For
some reason eGroups has not accepted my unsubscription. I am still
subscribed from my home email (minihummer....).

BTW: I am cancelling my Power Line Trail ride on Saturday. The steering
problem should be addressed before I tackle any more trails in the ZJ.
Since I am doing the steering box diagnosis and replacement/repair
myself, I figure I'll probably need the entire weekend to get it done.

Thanks!

Subject: TR on Sat, Sept. 30th ??

I've got family visiting for the weekend of September 30th. Whenever
they visit, my wife makes me take them out Jeeping. And because
there are so many of them this time I've got to go twice in one
weekend. Oh the sacrifice. Anyway, I've been looking for a trail
kind of close by (did B.A. with them last year & don't want to go
that far this time) and came up with a couple ideas. Rocker Panel
Pass, Bulldog Canyon, Box Canyon/Coke Ovens, or something else I just
don't know about. (although ending at a river sounds pretty enticing
right now)

I know someone had the combo for Bulldog so it's a possibility (if
they can make it) and I've also done Box Canyon but I'd rather do
Rocker Panel because I've never been there before. So, the question
is, would someone like to be lead for Rocker Panel Pass on 9-30? Or,
my second question, would anyone like to be lead on any other semi-
close trail on the 30th? The second day I'm going out is Monday,
October 2nd and was just planning on repeating the same run as the
30th but anyone else is welcome to join on that day too.

Thought I'd get the ball rolling so if anyone can lead one of these
trails let me know. Once we get a leader we can post something for
the rest of the group.

Going wheeling ALL weekend! Running a Ladies Only run (10 rigs - mostly
Jeeps) up here in Washington. Doing the Index Trail on Saturday, and
running around Reiter Pit this weekend. Should be a blast.

And....which guy? There's so many now a-days, it's hard to keep track! :)

Anyone have any handy hints for breaking free a pitman arm nut that's
torqued on at 185 ft-lbs?

Tell you what, I'll put you on WEB access only so you won't get any
email, then tell me when you get your new address.

And for those of you with this policy at work, but you still want to
read and post to the group, you can if you can browse the web. Just
go to the main eGroups web site and log in - using your home email
address, not a work address, and sGroups will behave as if you were
at home. You can both read messages and post messages on the web.

I
will sign back up as soon as I fix my home computer. Thank you.

I have always just used the biggest crescent wrench I can find, firmly plant
both feet on it, and leg-press the nut off grabbing onto the front bumper
for leverage. But my 10 years of weightlifting also helps with this
method...

On bolts that I have a large enough socket for, I have a 1/2 inch drive
breaker bar and a 4 foot cheater bar I've used quite often. I'm surprised
and how much that breaker bar will bend without breaking...

Can you heat it up with a torch, that way it should come out nice and easy,
