The AA kit is by far the best with JB Conversions coming in a close second.
It is not that big of a deal to install either of them if you are a decent
home mechanic. Tom Woods kit uses the JB version, although he also sells
the AA. You can not beat his driveshafts, though. You will pay more, but
what you get will be top quality and virtually indestructible.

Subject: [az_vjc] New YJ need advice on SYE
Hey guys we just picked up 92 YJ for my brother...got a pretty good deal I
thought. 1992 64K 4.0 5 spd, hard doors, new soft top, 4-5" lift, new 33"
thornbirds, in great condition for $8,500!
Anyways the guy who had it before dropped the transfercase and angled it a
bit to get rid of the vibes. However it looks like the transfercase is
leaking a bit out the rear when you drive it. It also looks like the
driveshaft is like an inch too short now. My dad wanted to just get the
driveshaft lengthened but I was thinking my brother would be better off if
he went ahead and installed a SYE now and just did it right the first time.
Mind you he doesn't really have a lot of cash right now...poor kid's in the
navy!
What do you guys think? 4wheelers quoted me $900 installed for the AA SYE
and a new driveshaft. That's more than my brother is willing to spend i'm
sure. Anyone know about Tom Woods SYE kit? I'm thinking about trying to
tackle the install myself to save my brother some money but I'm not always
super confident working on someone else's jeep. I'm sure I'll wind up doing
the install myself on my ZJ when the time comes for it. Anyone ever
installed one? Maybe some a pizza and beer installation "party" at my
place? =) I know there's a pretty good writeup on the Tom Woods kit on
rockcrawler.com.
Anyways all advice and input is appreciated!
Jeff Gully
93 ZJ...now dwarfed by little bro's jeep!

I get the digest version which I love. I only get 3 emails a day from
eGroups and most of them contain 25 messages. There are 2 downsides. 1) I
don't get instant receipt of new messages. 2) there are no attachments in
the digest. Much of what Linda L. sends on land issues are attachments, or
so it seems.
Come to think of it, they may not be downsides after all. (I get email
directly from Terry and Mr. Ed and a bunch of others on land issues).
Oh, btw Dion, there is one ad per digest. The top usually shows a "sponsor" ad.

What perfect timing.
Last night, before a buddy and I are to go Dove hunting, I fire up the ol'
Willys at 4:30 PM, after oil PSI comes up, (external oil pump = lotsa
rattling lifters on old motor at startup!) I got a noticeable tick in motor.
I figure it's Clutch, or lifter, since I've been experiencing clutch
troubles, I check there 1st. Sure enough, disintegrated parts were trying to
escape the bellhousing....... (here's where you roll your eyes and wish it
were a lifter.....). Well, all is not lost, clutch still works, I fish out
"extra" parts, determined to go HUNTING!!
Ol' faithful gets me out there the next morning, and home again safely,
with a few side trips thrown in to tempt fate......( I'm sucha daredevil!).
I guess I know what I'll be doing after the honey do's and the trailer
modifications, and the otherwise "relaxing" weekend avoiding the crowds...
Does anyone else feel the universe is not right when their Jeep is not
running, or should I seek professional assistance from a licensed
psychiatrist....

Yes, I too feel uneasy when my Willys is not in proper order. What is worse
is that on the last run to Chiva Falls I came down hard on the trans
skidplate, denting the skidplate, bending the crossmember and the frame
where the crossmember mounts. Now I have to willingly disassemble the jeep
in order to fix it. The good news is that while it is torn apart, i can get
to those modifications i wanted to do but was never willing to live without
being able to drive it. Hopefully you wont have to go too long without a
good "fix" of jeepin'

Dear eGroups Members,
Thank you for your message. We have composed a brief FAQ to hopefully
address some of your issues:
Q. Why have you placed your ads at the top of my message?
A. eGroups is committed to offering you a high-quality, easy email
group service. As a business, we have two choices in paying for this
service: one, charge members for its use, or two, include targeted
text and HTML banner advertisements within emails sent to group
members. eGroups members have shown an overwhelming preference
for a free, ad-supported service...and that's what we've provided.
Q. What are my options for the no-ads plan?
A. The no-ads plan allows moderators to pay an annual fee to remove
advertisements from their group for 12 months. eGroups accepts checks
and
credit cards (VISA, MasterCard) for our no-ads program. The cost is
US$59.40 for 12 months of no ads. For more information, visit:
http://www.egroups.com/info/noads.html .
Q. I run a group that distributes HTML email with graphics or
stationary. I don't want our files to contain ads. What are my options?
A. In this case, you may either upload your files to the group file
area
(where they will not be modified with ads), or choose our no-ads plan.
Q. Are these advertising changes a result of Yahoo's acquisition
of eGroups?
A. No. Since it was founded, eGroups has constantly improved and
expanded
the use of advertising strategy. The decision to make these changes was
made exclusively by eGroups.

Well... My last 10 hour ride into Mexico has convinced me that getting to

could drive me to the depth of this insanity? Let me tell you:
9 (yes, 9!) Miles Per Gallon with the Jeep fully loaded with SCUBA Gear
Too much excitement with the high center of gravity on turns.
35x14.5" Swampers make a wonderful sound on short trips... on long ones;
misery.
Comfort? We don't need no stinking comfort. <smile>
Room? We don't need no stinking room. <smile>
I think you get the idea...
I've modified the poor Jeep so much that it is really no fun to drive on
long trips anymore. To cure the problem, I've purchased a tow vehicle and
now I'm looking for a trailer to put the Jeep on.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can purchase a good quality
trailer which will hold my TJ? Any ideas on how much I should expect to
pay? Anything I should look for on a trailer (good things)? Anything I
should look out for (bad things)?
Thanks in advance

I know this is kind of a last minute thing, but if anyone is interested, a group of us will be running Predator tomorrow.
If interested in running this trail e-mail me or call and I will give you the details about where to meet, etc...
For those that don't know, Predator is a solid 4.0(+) trail with some optional obstacles that could be 4.5(+). It is possible to go through this without body damage, as the last time I ran this a well modified (and carefully driven) TJ made it without a scratch. For those that haven't been on it, I would compare it to Lower Terminator.

Hey,
Is anyone going to the Farmington competitions next week, or know anyone that
is and may have an open seat?
I just need a ride there and back if possible... my original ride fell thru,

I would drive myself, but can you imagine 7 hours in a lifted CJ? Ouch to say

Signed,
Running out of Tequila!

Being without Jeep is comparable to being without sight or hearing, once
Jeep-itis has taken hold. Remedies include buying another Jeep, fixing

Hello Everyone!
Well... My last 10 hour ride into Mexico has convinced me that getting to
the distant reaches of 4x4 trails is no longer acceptable in the Jeep. What
could drive me to the depth of this insanity? Let me tell you:
9 (yes, 9!) Miles Per Gallon with the Jeep fully loaded with SCUBA Gear
Too much excitement with the high center of gravity on turns.
35x14.5" Swampers make a wonderful sound on short trips... on long ones;
misery.

All,
I know this is kind of a last minute thing, but if anyone is interested, a group of us will be running Predator tomorrow.
