As a growing newbie, I continually obsess about our hobby and want to start increasing my tool collection. I feel one of the things I could use is a capable Air Compressor big enough for home use, but not overkill due to money constraints. In my research I found a site that has remanufactured units that seem reasonable and they come with free shipping and a warrantee.

The unit I came up with for me is a re-manufactured Iron Force direct drive with a vertical 28 gal. tank.
MODEL NUMBER WL611700RB
HP PEAK 6.25
MOTOR 120 Volts
SCFM @ 90/40 PSI 6.1 / 7.4
MAXIMUM PRESSURE 150 PSI
LIMITED WARRANTY 1 Year
PRICE: $250 no sales tax and shipped for free.
Is this enough to run even the most consuming air tools like grinders and sanders?

I'd take a hard look at the Sears units before I jumped. I've been looking myself and you can find a comparable unit there. Maybe a few dollars more, but look for the sales they often have.

Bob;
Do yourself a favor and get a standup unit with 220V motor and at least a 60 gallon tank. You'll thank me later! ;) Price Club or Home Depot are good bets.

What ever you do. Do Not get an oil free compressor. I had one and hated it. They are noisy as H**L and slow. :mad:
Now I'm saving up for the dual stage 220v from home depot since I got rid of my oil less one. I have been using my York on the Jeep to get me through.

That one sounds good. Check out home depot also they have a husky 60 gallon that runs on 120, I think for about 400 bucks also.
