Tom,
First, the dealer won't sell you just the bushings - I tried. They want
to sell you a whole new tie rod. I don't know the price. I replaced my
tied rod bushings with some I ordered from on of the mail order shops
(4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers?) They are made by Prothane and are made
of polyurethane. The factory bushings are formed and contain metal
inserts. They work well. The bushings I bought are not formed like
the factory bushings and they don't contain the metal inserts. They
don't hold the grease in nearly as well as the factory bushings. I don't
know of any other options.
Don't know if this helps.

From the sounds of it, you're talking about tie rod ends. These are easy to
replace, but the job is made much easier if you use a good gear puller or
pittman puller. Just go to a good parts store and get the replacement ends.
One will be reverse threaded.
To get them off, pull the cotter pin; remove the nut; use a gear puller or
pittman puller to free the end out of it's fitting. It's a tapered fitting,
and it will come out with a load bang. You'll think you broke something for
sure when it comes out...but that's just the way it is.
After you replace the ends, you'll need an alignment.

Tom,
First, the dealer won't sell you just the bushings - I tried. They want
to sell you a whole new tie rod.

A suggestion.. I really liked doing the Coves. Though I dont have a Jeep, I
hitch along with my Uncle ( Pete Blue XJ) and I think he wants to do
something this weekend. He just recently lifted it 2 inches and did the quick
disconnects.

Coves, Mon. AM ???
Last Thurs/Fri ? Green TJ McKellips and Stapley AM Club stickers
behind the doors- What size spare are you running ? It looked pretty big to
be hanging off the stock carrier ? Is that how it is mounted ? I tried to
catch you, but I got held up in traffic.
I wasn't driving my jeep, he was at home resting.
