Ok, I know this is off the subject but hey. I drive a 1987 dodge colt.. Sadly
enough.. Any ways, It runs fine in the morning, but in the afternoon, it
stalls when it is idling. Vapor Locking? If you know what the problem could
be, and give me some tips on fixing I would appreciate it.. And yes, I am
still looking for a jeep. I would have asked for that 88, but someone already
got it.

The closest major cross roads are Houghton and Tanque Verde. On Tanque Verde
continue east from Houghton for almost a mile. On the left there is a Circle
K, it's the only store out there. We are schedualed for 9:30 am but I will
probably be there around 9am.

Yes folks, there is MUD in AZ, you just have to be at the right place
at the right time. We had a blast on this run. It's about the time
of
year to schedule another one. Rain storms can be found almost daily
through September in the Sierra Anchas. (Still takes a little luck).

I know a few of you are familiar with the guys over at O-R Fab. I just
recently became aquainted with them, but want to share my experience. First
of all I have talked with them on the phone, always willing to answer any
question that I had in a straight forward no BS manner. Secondly I have
stopped by their shop, again with nothing more than questions, however once
again they were willing to stop what they were doing and give me their
un-divided attention. Well today I called and then went by to purchase one
of their swing away bumper tire carriers. They not only gave me a great deal
on one that someone had ordered and then did not want, but without hesitation
saved me throuble of installing it, all of this with about 30 minutes notice.
If in need give Mark or Wayne a try, They will go out of their way to help.

Subject: LU SC to Run AZ(NOT JUST A LAND USE ISSUE)
Awhile back I mentioned a couple of items that will be on the upcoming
ballet abouts measures to limit or grow smarter.
The Sierra Club(SC) proposal wants a hrd boundry defined and no growth
beyond that. This is the same plan they got passed in another state(this
state was in the middle of some great growth) that put a hard boundry that
all growth had to infill the current boudnry before it could grow outward.
A time line of every 5 or 10 years was set to review the boundries. As time
went on and the infill began the prices went up on the property within the
boundry, so much that people could not afford to live there, but no new
developments could go in in outlying areas due to the boundry. As time went
on companies could no longer afford to pay employees the salary necessary.
Companies had to move, now the market drops out and noone can sell them,
these people lost everything. Now twenty years later the boundries still
have not moved. Remember most people will complain, few will vote, so once
this passes don't think it will every change.
The other bill was being presented by Govenor Hull as a compromise to the SC
bill. If would have set soft boundries. Developers would have to submit a
plan of action on how the land was to be used and developed and give time
tables to make it happen so that we could manage our growth, not stop it.
The SC said all along it would support the bill if it had a chance of
passing, asmost would pass a compromise. The SC decided why not still try
to pass thier bill too, so they kept pushing it, all the while saying they
supported the Govenor's bill. Then down to the wire they file a petition to
have the Govenor's bill removed from the ballet, stating if violates another
state law the way it is written. Talk about a tactical move, both sneaky
and full of that left over cow stuff they are made of. The decision that
the judge(Susan Bolton) made that sided with the SC is now under appeal. If
it fails and the Govenor's measure will not be presented on the ballot the
only alternative we have is the full blown SC measure. This measure
basically allows the SC to run another state already and it's financials
have fallen on hard times, do we now want to fall under the SC rule.
Please read the Proposition 100 Debacle on page 8 of the Wednesday AZ
Republic for a better understanding of the latest. Keep in mind that if the
SC proposal passes they will basically run our lands and how they are used.
Please urge everyone you know not just for access rights, but for financial
stability to vote down this measure.
If you have any questions please email me. This is a quick(well sort of)
version of the situation, for the full details send me a note.

The front page of the EV Tribune (Wed 8/16) has an article about the
State Trust Land north of US60 between Gold Canyon and Florence
Junction. There is a group called SALT (Superstition Area Land Trust)
who wants to buy this land to keep it from being developed and keep OHV
users off it. I guess the land value has maximized in the eyes of the AZ
State Trust Land Department and they are getting ready to put it on the
auction block. SALT wants to expand the Superstition Wilderness boundary
all the way to US60. The SC is backing them. I have never been in this
area, but it looks like it's worth exploring.

Subject: CJ wheel backspacing (attn: devon w)
Hey fellow jeepers-
I've got a friend that's got a CJ6 and he's trying to figure out what
backspacing and width tires to run with his new 35x12.5 BFG MTs.
He's been running XJ axles (~60" wide) with 33x12.5 BFG MTs and is
now switching to Bronco/Scout D44s (~59" wide).
Any suggestions on wheel width and backspacing? I gave him my input
but I'm running 35x15.5s which significantly change the numbers.
Devon -- you're running 35" BFG MTs, right? what width/backspacing
are your running?
Thanks for any input

Subject: Re: LU SC to Run AZ(NOT JUST A LAND USE ISSUE)

Jeff
