Welcome! The AZVJC is turning into the biggest 4x4 club in Arizona, but
we are not part of the Arizona State Association of Four Wheel Drive

Yes... I think that 1" motor mounts are the best alternative (I have 1"
motor mounts in my TJ) but they are not cheap, and they raise the center of
gravity of the vehicle... which the lowered fan shroud does not. As in all
things; it is a trade-off... this time between a higher CG and cost versus
higher driveline angles. I opted for the motor mount lifts, but I bet most
people don't.

I agree .... B&R is the only place I would take a Jeep to have engine work
done.
I know a guy who sells a kit to swap in a Motorcraft 2100 carb into 258
equipped Jeeps. He gets his carbs off of 70's model Jeeps V8's because
according to him, they work far better off-road than the ones used on Fords.
Something for you to think about anyway.

I did this trail about 2 years ago all the way through with a stock
1998 Ford Ranger with 265/75R16's BFG's & a rear tracloc. We also
took a Stock 98 TJ with 2" spacers and a Stock XJ. It was a lot of
fun. But I am glad that my old Ranger had all of the skidplates. I
sure bent them going out through the rock garden by the windmill.
This is a great trail if you have someone that knows the trail. I
forgot how to get out the last time I went. I sure wished that I
could go with you guys. But I moved up north where there is no trails.

Subject: P4W Roundup, Table Mesa Road Clean Up, State Jamboree, etc.
Some info I will pass on from the P4W meeting last night:
*P4W Roundup 2001 has been canceled due to but not limited to the
following reasons:
1. Problems with the BLM permit.
2. Problems with the new ridiculous BLM fee structure.
3. Problems with alternative P4W ranches on private land.
*Table Mesa Road Clean Up.
There will be a large scale Table Mesa Road clean up sometime in Sept.
Oct. This is the road that goes right past trails like Lower Terminator
and Anaconda. The road is in really bad shape, trash wise. Tammy Pike
is involved in this clean up, Diamond something or other (sorry, will
correct when I get complete info) has donated dumpsters, BLM is
providing bags, and this will be a media event. I will post the exact
date when it is available.
*State Jamboree.
The state Jamboree STILL does NOT have a BLM permit, and they have
problems with the (ridiculous) new BLM fee structure. I have been told
that some of the problems with the permit may stem from the way the ARCA
competition was approved, and the resulting hard feelings on the part of
the Tucson BLM office. In any case, the Jamboree may go forward WITHOUT
including any BLM fees in the registration, and BLM trails will be
dropped from the official trail list. These trails would still be able
to be run during Jamboree, but they would not be organized trail rides,
they would have to be Wildcat runs.
*P4W annual Cinders run.
Should be the first weekend in Sept. I will post a map, directions, and
the final dates later this week or early next.

After reading several responses, it seems doing the 1-inch BL is different
for many people. My friend and I did them on our YJs recently using the
Rusty's 1-inch kit($59). I had to do NO modifications to any other
component (no shroud lowering, no motor mounts, etc.). The only thing I
noticed was a slightly different throw going into second gear. Can't
comment on the auto. I already had a 4-inch lift. On my friend's stock YJ,
we had to lower and redrill his fan shroud. It's really a nice mod and
simple to do.
