View Full Version : Landscaping-type labor needed - Recommendations?

I've decided to take the plunge (pun intended, har har!) and have a pool installed in my backyard.
However, I've got some rocks that I want to save and therefore need to move before they start digging. This is the typical landscaping rock that covers the dirt/whatever along the side of a house (or in yard). I just got the rock a few years ago, and don't want it all taken away to the dump when the pool guys Bobcat the yard.
Was looking for recommendations for <cough>cheap<cough> landscapers who would provide a few guys to move this stuff from side of house. Not a lot of work, but I've been swamped on weekends...and is a lot to do alone. Would also like to defer to this same landscaper for the eventual re-route and repair of sprinkler/drip system that the pool digging will destroy.
I'm located East Mesa.
Or I could put out pizza and beer and solicit a few of you guys to help out!!! :D (need wheelbarrow!)
Thanks,
Tom
Call labor express or one of the other Labor employers.. probably the Cheapest you can get they will work as long as you watch them and give them good direction. they will sometimes even bring there own Wheelbarrow and Shovels if you ask..
I myself hate two things Shovels and Painting.

Tom, there is always the option of getting a couple workers from Bdwy/Mesa Dr or Az Ave/Frye... 8-10$/hr and I can promise they will work like you've never seen before....Edging on legality but depending on your personal sense of ethics, these are just people trying to make some money to send home to their families (in most cases)

Tom - I put in my own sprinkler system, so when the pool is completed, if you need help repairing/rerouting the sprinklers, I'd be glad to help. Assuming no new stations or changes necessary to the valves, it'd just be a matter of cutting/glueing PVC and setting the heads in their new locations.

EIGHT BUCKS AN HOUR????? Damn, Daddy WarBUCKS, Can I come work for you???? 5 dollars an hour and a 6 pack gets the job done.:) Besides, If someone offers you pizza and beer to install a lift kit or some gears, Landscape work is waaaaay harder than that, so it justifies the 5 dollars an hour. The pizza and beer are just a bonus :D Honestly, Geno's right....awful good labor avail for cheap.

Thanks for the replies, everyone.
Turns out I DON'T have to move all the rock I thought. (Damn lucky I bumped into the pool foreman at my place earlier this week when I returned from the airport...he saved me a bunch of work!). Should be able to clear out the few small areas of stuff I want to keep relatively quickly.
Matt, I may need to take you up on some of the sprinkler repair stuff when the pool is done. Though the grass will hardly be worth it...will be able to mow what's left of the lawn with a weed wacker once the pool is in!
