OK I picked up Randys project. Pretty complete CJ-6 but in a big pile of parts. Engine has been rebuilt and pretty much ready to go (304). Frame looks pretty good. Body pretty good needs some fab on firewall body mounts. Looking to spiff it up and get it back to running condition. Not looking for a frame up resto at this point.

I am looking for suggestions on how to proceed and whe/where might have some old jeep parts. Looking for a gas tank for sure, not using the old one with the new engine.

Should be a fun project for me and the boy

Thanks for any input

according to the interweb, to assemble a CJ-6 you need to attach part "A" to part "B"

fortunately they make a book! http://www.quadratec.com/products/19009_007.htm

You can buy fuel tank cleaner and coating, not sure of the manufacturer, its like resin. We used it on a 1969 Vette gas tank after a rebuild and it worked great.
And I'm parting out a 78 CJ5 and have a ton of parts if your missing anything.

If you are going to use other tank, must be '76 / newer: 75/prior had narrower frame rails in back

Suggestion #1: get it together and running- accomplishment feedback or it will be one of those "quest for perfection that ended in being scrapped for parts because interest wained" ads which we have all seen so many times.

4Wheelers Supply (602)-273-7195 is the place for parts (too bad you missed Simon's mad sale)

I thought the 72'-76' were all the same?

I can compare side by side. It will run and be a true Hatari CJ-6.

76 was the "new" style: wider frame in rear, integrated front cross member, wider springs (commandos made change much earlier)
