Thanks...
God, I hope it's not going to be like the last one. Everyone and their dog showed up, wether they had a degree or not. The line was too long to wait in.
I am still wondering why they don't hire off their web site postings.

No problem. Man, I hope its not too much of a turn off for people, but for those that do end up getting a job, GD is a great place to work. My latest favorite thing is the AWS our section just went to (every other Friday off). That means more jeeping time.

Any point for me to show up with an AA degree in electronics and 7 years work experience?

Any open minded hiring manager knows experience outweighs a degree. The reason most places want degreed employees is to increase their chances of winning contracts. They can submit proposals stating X number of employees with various degrees in various disciplines.
I've been a software engineer for over 10 years with many years in various roles (sysadmin, programmer, support) prior and I don't have a degree, but I might go to the Job Fair just to piss off James :D
The online postings only show Scottsdale postions. Maybe they just haven't posted them yet.

I wouldn't think you would have a problem. I know a couple of my buddies got hired straight out of the military on experience, not education, to places like General Dynamics and Northrup Gruman. I know a Security Clearance helps a lot though :D

I see one position in there that calls for a AS (Associate of Science?)
Edit: The position is called an Associate Engineer (I think that means Engineering Technician).

Matt & Chris,
Did you go?
Did the screeners let you in?
The job fair was organized a bunch better this time. I got to speak with a few of the hiring people. I didn't know that GD had a plant in Gilbert about 2 miles from my house. That would be the best commute I have ever had, if I got a job there.

No, I didn't go. I'm not looking for work right now. I'm happy with my work from home engineering job :D
What did/do the screeners do? Are they just taking a cursory glance at resumes and turning people away if it doesn't contain certain buzzwords, like Bachelors degree, Masters degree, etc.?
If so, I'll keep that in mind for the next time I need to go to a job fair and use a fake one to get in the door and a real one for the hiring managers. :D

Yes.
They even looked to see what design software I had used before, and they did it quick.
That's what I was thinking someone could do....
