We're also exploring the registering of azvjc.org and hosting
services. Hopefully costs will be low or none at all due to member

You will always be able to get the most current site through

Subject: In defense of Aaron and his Yahoo club.....
When the Yahoo Club named AZVJC was set up on August 26 of 1999 we (the collective members of the egroups list) were searching for alternatives. We were interested in chat features and so we experimented with AIM as well as the Egroups chat room. We also had a poll in which we decided not to split the group into 2, a trail list and another list for other postings such as tech stuff. I don't think Aaron ever meant to split the group as is being suggested recently. It was not a "tacky move" as said by one member. Just an honest attempt to help out the membership. He offered up an idea that he had and we all shied away from it in the end for various reasons.
The AZJEEPRUNS was a branch he created this spring to stay in contact with friends that were leaving the AZVJC list due to the large number of posts being put up as well as those that were tired of some of the off-topic posts. He personally e-mailed those that had asked to unsubscribe from AZVJC to join the list. Most of them did. Later on most of those that had dropped out of AZVJC eventually returned after cooling off or setting up filters in their e-mail clients. Since then the AZJEEPRUNS group has been a virtual ghost town. It served its purpose just as the AZVJC does - to bring together those of us with a common interest so that we may enjoy our Jeeps and maintain the new friendships which to me is the heart and soul of this group.
Please read the following post from back then as well as others from August of 99 and you will have a better understanding of his intent.
I just wanted to set the record straight.

The follow up trip to extricate the ZJ from Terminator took place Friday
night.
In attendance were myself, Bob Trenton, Joe Clarke, Ross Skinner with his
son Chris, and Greg Banfield.
We succeeded in cutting it up into 4 manageable pieces, And moving those
off to the side of the trail. We finished up at about 3:00am, so we didn't
make the attempt to remove the pieces from the trail yet. I took in a torch
set, Sawsall, generator, grinders, Portaband, extension cords and lights, 10
gallons of water for fire fighting, portable extinguishers etc. Ross ended
up twisting off a rear driveshaft and bending a rear spring, all of which we
repaired on the trail. That wasn't the only casualty, though. While
separating and moving the last 2 large body pieces, Greg lost his balance,
and fell forward into the twisted wreckage. He cut his shin on a piece of
jagged metal, over the top of a vein, which proceeded to bleed profusely. He
also ended up with small cuts and bruises to the underside of his arm and
torso, Ross administered first aid, Which of course, reduces Greg's chance
to live,..... ; )
A return trip will be necessary to get the pieces all out, I'm thinking
all the pieces could be dragged out by Jeeps, with the front piece being the
biggest challenge, since it has the motor and tranny in it.
It looks like this may be a new dumping ground for stolen burned cars,
as another turned up in the main wash by the sand and gravel outfit.

Darwin awards are for those genius people who manage to remove themselves from the gene pool by doing something really stupid and accidentally killing themselves. Although they didnt kill themselves perhaps they will refrain from reproduction on their own; people who do stuff like this give 4 Wheelers a bad name. Unfortunately for us, this actually did happen so it disqualifies for an Urban Legend.
However stupidity of this sort should be awarded, like the Darwin award. Perhaps we could come up with our own list of stupid actions done by people in OHVs that made the news; removal from the gene pool would not be a requirement, but an added bonus. What would we call such an award?
- Bonehead drivers
- Stupidly Stuck
- Just Junk em
Id rather not have 4 Wheeler, Off-Road, OHV, Outdoor, 4x4, ATV, etc anywhere in the name of the award though.

Subject: More ZJ electrical problems
It happened again! The old ZJ started throwing electrical fits on
Saturday. Usually this means either the TPS or the coil is ready to go,
but both checked out. The MAP (manifold Air Pressure) sensor failed to
meet specs. Replaced that and the ZJ is idling normally again. But if I
turn on the A/C the engine almost stalls. The PCM (Power Train Control)
module checks the A/C high pressure sensor to determine if the engine
idle needs to be adjusted, but for some reason it just isn't
interpreting this correctly. Is this a diagnosis/repair that is better
left to an automotive A/C specialist? The sensor sits on top a schrader
valve.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks!

My suggestion is to let Tom and Mike look into updating the website(per
Mike's email) before we make a switch. Simply switching from one
name(egroups to yahoo) which is actually the same company will not make the
statement we want. There may be more functionality you say, since they are
one we can get the functions either place shortly, therefore would moving
really accomplish anything? I think Mike and Tom are on the right track
with us getting everything to our own environment, so I suggest we hold off
any move until they get back to us as to what they can provide with the
website, then make a decision.

I read in the latest report that the Colorado Assoc of 4WD Clubs has refused to
get involved in the recovery. I think that was probably not the best idea since
keeping good repoire with the BLM and other land management agencies means
sometimes doing things that are not fun. If this had happened in Arizona I
suspect that there would be many volunteers to help get those vehicles off the
mountain side. Why do I think this? Because I think, that by nature, we all try
to help each other out -- including the idiots. Heck, we all run into novice
4-wheelers that are in situations over their heads. This is just a more extreme
case. Why the Colorado Assoc would refuse to help out defies everything
organized 4-wheeling is all about. I am embarassed!
Just my opinion

I think this most fits these acts of stupidity. It is a term I have used
for many years:
I vote for Door Knob
