I know this has been gone over to death but.....
Seems to me that there are several members that would like to have an organized club. Every time it is brought up about 50% say no way and 50% say yes. Why does everyone have to agree? I believe that we have members of AZVJ that also belong to organized clubs. There are NO organized Jeep clubs in the Valley (even Range Rover has their own club). If the members of AZVJ that want organization created a new club there could be a "virtual link" to AZVJ and we would all be aware of the club activities.
I only bring this up because of the posts regarding Fund Raisers, T-Shirts and even elections. I can't follow all of the threads and don't have time to reread them to try an discern if I missed dates and activities that I might want to participate in. I am not saying that I would even join a organized club but I would like to see more organization. I read a lot of posts about activities that I might be interested in but than they become disjointed and most drop off the face of the earth.
Just a thought.

Rick, you are correct. Yahoo + Egroups = Same ownership
I still think using Ultimate Bulletin Board Software on the clubs website is
the best solution for club communications. This would take care of virtually
every problem we have. And no more unwanted email.
Check out http://www.pirate4x4.com/cgi-bin/ubb/Ultimate.cgi to see what it
possible. Go to their main page to see all the other functions they have on

Personally, I like the current set up on e-groups. If we were to do

Currently Tom Quinn is finding out if the service provider we are using will allow us to run an ASP website. If this is the case, well have a completely custom website complete with message boards (Trips, Land Use, Tech, etc), calendars and member information (who you are, what you drive). Information on the website will be dynamic so that any member can add things at will, and modify things they own (member info, trips, etc..)

I wouldn't bother.
On June 27, Yahoo acquired eGroups.
Here is the press release:
http://www.egroups.com/local/pr/pr062800.html
I also think its a bit of an overstatement to say eGroups is
compaigning against our hobby. Someone once saw a negative
advertisement, which was probably bought in bulk with thousands of
other advertisements by some third party supplier. I never saw it and
have not seen it since.
Remember we get this service free because the advertisements pay for
it. Who's to say if we move to another supplier we won't see more
advertisements we don't like? What is Yahoo's policy?
