I finally went ahead and did a mod I've been wanting to do, replacing what was my damaged rocker panels. After doing a little research on a few other forums I came up with my own solution. After a couple days of cutting, grinding, welding and about $130 worth of metal, I now have some kick a$s rocker panels/sliders. Check out the link to see the pics of the before/after pics and the process I used.

I used 2x4x3/16 square tube and 1 1/4 x 1 1/4 3/16 angle iron for material, 13 feet of both. All that is left to do is a little clean up, fill the area between the stitch welds and paint. Below are before and after pics if ya don't want to check out all the other pics.

Nice, have you tried em out yet?
If you want to protect more of your door, you could always bump em out with some .120 wall tubing

I'll be trying them out on Sun (1/2/05) out at Florence. And the doors, well, guess if I munch them, it'll just be another excuse for another mod. ;)

Came back from a good day of wheelin' in Florence Jct. Took the regular Woodpecker trail and purposely perched myself on the rockers with a great results, which inspired a new level of wheeling confidence. :D

I'm in the process of doing this right now. Now that you've had these on for a year...how are they holding up?

They've been holding up great. I haven't noticed or observed anything out of the ordinary since the install. Welds are still holding and the sliders are still in good condition.

nice job. now just take off your laredo/limited molding have 2 pieces of 8' x 6" x 1/8" steel diamond plate cut and have them put a 10* bend 1" up on one edge then use the old trim as templates to cut the steel and attach to your doors and fenders with #10 tek screws on a 6" spacing....that will protect your doors
they will look like this when done.....except in steel instead of alum
