View Full Version : Good quad recommendations?

I'm thinking of selling my Jeep (I never wheel it anymore) and getting a quad. I want one with 4wd and carrying capacity (gotta take a cooler or maybe an occasional dead body) and the ability to mount a winch. Beyond that, I don't know what else is available
Recommendations? Rough prices?
This is just in the thinking phase. I hate the idea of selling the Jeep, but I never use it anymore. A quad would make it easier to just go out on a whim on weekends.

Polaris or Bombardier for a 4 wheel "do it all" quad. You're probably looking at around $7000.00 new. You can save quite a bit buying used from the Trader, but look for tell tale signs of neglect or abuse. You want a clean machine with maintenance records. People seem to drive ATV's into the ground with lack of maintenance.

My brother has a Grizzley 600 4x4, with a winch. He hauls elk out with no problems.
Not sure on price though...
If you want to take it for a spin, come on over!

I agree with Eric. I like Polaris or Bombardier. I chose the Bombardier Outlander 4x4 MAX because its a two seater. If you only want a single seater then the Polaris Sportsman offers better ground clearance. Mine is a 400 HO but it is slightly more powerful than the rest of the 500 class. The Rotax motors kick butt. Up in Montana there were alot of Bomb dealers. Down here you see more Polaris dealers. I think it will take a few more years before the Bombs really catch on down here like they are up north.

I don't want to "sell" you one but take a good look at the Can Am's (used to be Bombardier). I did a ton of researching and I bought an 05 Bombardier Outlander Max HO for pretty much the same reasons you have. I ride with others who have Polaris, Yamahas, Hondas, etc. and I'll just say this - I've extremely happy with mine. Bought it up in Rye (South of Payson) at Four Seasons. Best out the door prices, friendly and knowledgable staff, and great service. Good luck!

I love my '03 Arctic Cat 500 4x4. It's been reliable and strong running; it's also easy to service.

We've got two Polaris atvs. A Sportsman and a Magnum. They are about 8 years old now and are still very reliable and easy to work on. I will always stick with Polaris. If you want a real beast although it wont be as easy to work on, look at the 800 EFI. Its practically a small truck.
