View Full Version : Sylvania Silverstar Halogen Headlights
Just wondering if anybody has tried these new bulbs? And are they worth replacing the O E M units?

They were definitely an improvement on my 92 XJ. They are whiter, and throw a wider beam than the stock lights. High beams throw longer and are in general brighter too. They were about 25 bucks a light for my rig, but are well worth the money if you like to see what's in front of ya. Short of spending mucho money money on HID's, I'd say it's worth trying them out.

I converted over to H-4 bulbs two years ago and love them. If you're going to pay that much for silverstars you might as well go all the way and convert. The bulbs come in 2 colors, DOT approved white, and annoying import racer blue.
I thought about H-4's, but I used to get condensation behind the lenses on previous applications (canyon racers). Thats why I was leaning towards the sealed beams.
Does anybody have access to a comparison chart between the two?

I haven't had any problems with moisture yet, not even after burying the Jeep hood deep in Bartlett Lake. The ones I have (I got from Off Road Unlimited) have a big rubber nipple on the back that covers the wires and plug.

I got the Hella H4 conversion lenses. Big difference compared with stock. I also have the 80 watt low / 100 watt high bulbs and I did not have to upgrade my wiring.
