View Full Version : CJ5 windshield wiper problem
I have a 1983 CJ5I have replaced my wiper motor twice with (supposed to be good) motors. It seems like something is binding in the wiper linkage and it stops the motors. I have researched the net for a solution, but the answers there are clear as mud. I have lubed all the joints. When I move the wiper linkage by hand with the motor disconnected it seems to move freely, and nothing appears to be loose>
Has anyone else had this problem? ..... How did you fix it?
Thanks for any help

I've had a similar problem. On mine it turned out that the "dimple" that pokes out on the outside of the windshield frame, where the wiper comes out was caving in a little when the wipers where moving (also found a crack in the metal...) so I pushed the metal out from the inside and it seems to be holding for now. I'll prolly have to replace the frame eventually, but it's getting the job done for now. So, you might want to check that....
