well ive never cared for spam ever since i was a kid. my parents used to use it all the time when we would go camping...... and now spam makes my threads get deleted, lame.

anyway i got a little more done tonight, a few more braces and quite a bit of welding. i should have all the cage braces done by tomorrow if i dont run out of tube then just more welding. i may have over done it on the triangulation but im liking it more and more

i need the windshield to drive on the highway. its just a pavement pounder

someday i will buy a house and get a trailer so i can build a buggy

10-19-2011, 01:04 PM
Nice work. I'm not an engineer so I overbuilt my cage. Definately better than under built. I think yours looks great. Your rig is probably a bit heavier than a Jeep so it stands to reason your cage should be heavier. Looks good man. Nice work.

thank you

so i finally have the entire cage tacked together. there is a chance that i may add a few more peices but i doubt it. tomorrow i will weld everything up and the cage will be done. next is going to be the tube nose

i also picked up some 14.5" travel pro comps from Fly-N-Hi and got my master instal kit for my 60 in the mail from Letzroll Offroad. that should be at my doorstep tomorrow

got the tube nose all assembled today. just need to add a couple braces and shock mounts. worked a while on mounting the radiator and i think i am somewhat happy with it for now. tomorrow should be a big day working on brakes, fuel, battery, shocks, harnesses, wiring, welding and painting. in theory i should be able to get most of it done but we will see what happens

i exceeded my bandwidth on photobucket so you will have to click on the pics for now till the end of the month. too many people looking at my pics

Well I was trying to get this pig going for a big trip with my home forum this last weekend but................... the 454 wouldn't run for more than a few seconds. I found the problem finally last night so it's running once again. Nothing too exciting since then. Everything was wired up last night and I am going to take it out on saturday for a shake down. I only have half of the rig painted so it's one ugly hoopty right now

I have only had a chance to work on it at night so all my pics are dark and crappy. I am pretty proud of that back panel. It came out really nice

After my last wheeling trip, I soon found out my attempt to utilize my factory radiator mounts failed. So I started fabbing up some new ones.

I got some 3x4 3/16"s wall and split it in half. Obviously it's way overkill and too heavy, but that is all Bobby had at the time. So I'll just put some go fast holes in them ha

I used some foam insulation tape I got from work as a rubber mount. Overall I am very happy how it came out. Hopefully I have no issues with it.

Next up is mounting my Windstar fans. I have limited room so I used a Dremel to trim the shroud to fit tighter against my radiator. I went from having only 1" of room to about 2" now, which is pretty darn good. I still need to make some lower brackets to have the mounting all finished up.
