4.0 Heads and 258

I'm going to put a 4.0 head on a 258 that I have and was wondering about the head itself. I've seen articles where people have used mostly late 1990's heads. Is there a difference in the newer heads? I've got the opportunity to get one off of a 2004 Jeep Rubicon 4.0. (Jeep was wrecked) Is there any difference.

from what I've seen, a primary difference is the exhaust ports: when they switched from the problematic "header" manifold to a cast manifold the ports became considerably smaller (I did not get a chance to look at the valves as engines were assembled)
