Hackle, Flexy and I met a few friends with XJ's in Johnson Valley last week for some serious rockcrawling action. Thursday we ran Wrecking Ball and Friday we ran Sledgehammer and managed to squeeze in a night run on Lower Big Johnson. Sunday morning we woke up to snow...Yuk!
Here's some pics:

I think it may have been easier if you would've moved some of those rocks out of the way. :p

Right on boys looks like you all tore it up out there. Bummer on the snow. But glad that Flexy didn't have to drive this bad boy cept up on the trailer.
Plus help out a young geographically challenged originally from the midwest and hasn't been to JV yet dumb*ss out. Where exactly is Victorville at in CA? I read where it only took you all 5 hrs to get out there.

Ya, the snow kinda sucked. Especially cause my tow rig is 2wd. I got stuck 50 feet from camp. Flexy had to strap my *** all the way to Yucca Valley, about 30 miles. Just ask him about it. I'm sure he'll love to brag about it.
Johnson Valley is located on the edge of Means Dry lake bed, about 25 miles north of Lucerne Valley, or about 50 miles north of Palm Springs. I think thats quite a ways south of Victorville.
If you're into rockcrawling, JV is the mecca. Every trail is a little different, and there are no easy trails. If you go, bring all your spare parts, your big kahunas, and a really thick jacket.

Johnson Valley is located within the Red Circle on this map:

Here is a more detailed map of the area:

Woody is right... Bring both your nads with you for this place... Bring your doors too, you will want to take them off for the trail but its good to have them on the rig in case you run into any unexpected overnight weather ;)
lots of fun though...

That's not what you said a few weeks ago at FJ. So what has changed?

My rig did very well once we figured out the front locker. With it locked it walked up, without it sucked. Nothing broke I did not run on the second day as the steering had seemed screwy and I did not want to break on the trail with no spares.
I did not get any pics and when you run with an XJ group they ignore the YJ :D
I do have some video (about 2 hours) I am wortking on setting up some web space to host it. Then I can post links.
It is a great area, the trails are cool and will test your vehicle. The snow sucked :(

Now I think your misunderstanding me.
I deffinitely dont want "any" body damage. But I also am not going to let that possibility keep me from testing the limits of what the jeep and I can do. I'm still going to do everything I can to prevent it from happening. Like letting others take the first line. If I dont like what I see. I'll try a different line. I know if I keep pushing the limits. It's going to happen. Eventually. And when it does. I'll probably start cutting the front fenders, and the back end. Then it will go from. Damn that things, sweet looking. To. Damn that thing looks like trailer trash. Either way. I'll see it as a compliment. :D
