My search for replacement body bushings for the old wagon has been nothing but a series of dead ends. I am using poly right now, but I think it will be too hard on the 50 year old wagon body.

The wagon uses a 2" OD, 9/16" ID, 7/8" tall bushing. The bolt dia is 1/2". No sleeve is used to keep the bushing from getting squished.

I am looking for bushing dimensions (ID and OD) for CJ rubber body bushings and also the bolt diameter used on a 50s or early 60s model. Can someone with a CJ post those dimensions? It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Linda,

Have you tried talking to Daystar Dan in the club? He can see what poly sizes he has available at Daystar.

I am not interested in polyurethane. Poly has no place in suspensions or body bushings. It doesn't have enough flexibility and it wasn't part of the original design.

Poly has no place in suspensions or body bushings.

I would have to disagree with this statement as there are plenty of great uses for it in these areas. Just not in your particular use.

I tried to get you some measurements off the bushing on my 84, Linda. But mine are so pancaked out I would be hesistant to even guess at the size! :D

Thanks, but 1984 is too new. Kaiser switched the Jeep models to sleeved bushings in 1964 or 1965.

Linda....my 75 didn't have sleeved bushings.....I have a FSM for mid 70's CJ's at home......I can check there if you'd like.....

Thanks! I didn't know Kaiser/AMC kept using that style. Are the bushings on your 75 original?

One suggestion I got was to use boat trailer roller rubber, but it comes it at +-80 on the Shore Durometer A-Scale. So that's about as hard as poly.

Linda...as far as I know they were original.....I had replacements for them when I sold it, now I don't have the replacements anymore either....I'll see what the book says....
