TIA

What's the minimum equipment requirement for the Tanks?

I'm also on the west side. Usually free weekends and enjoy the tanks. I'm at 107th and Thomas.

Wind, min. req. I would say would be anything with 4 wheels. There is lots to do out there from mild to wild.

I'm no organizer or anything, but if there is enough interest, it would be nice if there was a club/chapter/informal group over on this side of the world. The traffic around here sucks! And driving for two hours to get to a meeting obviously limits participation. Just a thought...

I'd like to go to the tanks. I need to try out these new rocker gaurds Bill made. I'll have time after the 1st of December; Sundays and Mondays. I wouldn't mind leading a trip over Appetizer, Tax COllecter, and Firebird/Rolling Rock.

I haven't got a clue where any of these places are.

jason

buckeye hills are just south of the cow pasture, left at the hay stack down the old dirt road that runs by a field. ya cant miss 'em. j/k

if you want to check out ct or gm maybe we can set something up. not too sure where cheap trick is tho. which is why i wanna run it with smeone who does.

also, something to think about, the white tanks are in desparate need of a good cleaning. all that junk that weekend warriors and partiers leave behind is pretty insane. especially after x-mas when it becomes a designated tree drop-off site.although table mesa and fj prob have a lil more of us visiting on a regular basis, the tanks always seem to go overlooked when people plan a clean-up day.

Is there a local chapter of the Jeep Rescue Organization (JRO)? Might be an excuse to have a group based on the West side. (AKA the Projects)

This is such a great idea. I just signed up on the website, maybe we can find info of locals there.

Being the crusty old fart that I am, I remember a group called REACT from back in the CB days. Does anyone know if they still exist? In this area? Might be worthwhile to see if JRO and REACT would be a good team.

Just a thought....
(and I have so few of them....)

I seem to recall ct being 1 canyon west of gm. Instead of turning left into gm, continue west on the same dirt road, drop down into a wash and head south.

I built a house out at 91st Ave and Thomas a few years ago but sold it and am now more of a NW Valley person living over at 47 Ave and Grovers. I would still be interested in hooking up with you considering it's still a heck of alot closer than driving out to the East side. Also, I followed the link posted earlier to www.jeeprescue.org and signed up. Seems like a good organization to be affiliated with. My rigs not built enough to head up a local branch of something like that, but it is something that should definitely be looked into by somebody better equiped than myself ( I would join a local chapter, I just wouldn't want to be in charge). We certainly have members with the rigs and the know-how. Just an idea :D

ive only ran thru gila monster. a real quick run thru just to see what it was like. had a couple of options but nothing too gnarly except for the last lil fall. theres a pic of it on azrockrats.org. ive heard that cheap trick was alot better in the fact that it has more obstacles. hopefully it is a good trail. if not, im up for doing some exploring. the hills are covered in old roads and trails. whatch ya say? :D

This sounds cool. Jamie, sorry, for not getting in touch with you. Just got my Jeep finally, so I was staying out of the loop until I got it & could start going off-roading again. As for me, we basically live just northeast of the White Tank Mnts., near 170th, north of Bell, west of 303. Not sure what the trails are rated there, but looking to do scenic to moderate trails for right now. Haven't off-roaded in 2 1/2 years & need to get back into the grove again. Unfortunately, with the X-mas season nearing, time will be tight & most likely a trip out on the trails won't happen until after X-mas.

Well Marshall, it's about damn time I heard from you. :D :D :D

Nice to see you back in the loop, I just started to get back into it myself and have met some cool people out here.

I'll keep you informed of some stuff as the weeks go on. It seems I've been getting out almost every weekend the past few weeks either as a passenger or as a driver.

Edit:Before the BBQ, of course.

jason & I are planning to run cheap trick and gila monster in the grand hills of buckeye, y'all are welcome to join us if you want.

you said kinda early jason, 8:00 ok? I'm not sure how long the trails are so you tell me.

Sound great, but what are those trails rated? I have a little Jeep here. Firebird's about as rough a trail my Jeep will do without being a burden.

jason is open open on 33's so i'm sure you'll be ok. I've never ran these trails but from what I've read, if you can do firebird you should be fine. we can take a look before heading in to make sure you are comfortable

will a YJ w/ 35's no lockers and a P.O.S. 4 cylinder be able to make it?

I have been with Jason to the Buckeye Hills. The first trail is not to tough except that last obstacle. However that can be bypassed. We might head out later to do a little exploring and look for the other. The second trail is supposed to be a bit tougher. However we are all unsure of its actual rating since we have not found it yet. We'll post back if we find it!

If anyone wants to head out with us for a few this evening/tonight feel free to give me a call and I'll let ya know what the game plan is.

Crap...well, I won't be able to make it since the Jeep is out of commission until mid week. I had to send the guage cluster to AEV to have it re-flashed. Dave at AEV wants it to be dead accurate (the mph guage). FYI...Newer Jeeps guage clusters are VIN specific...that's why I had to send mine to them.

As for the BBQ, I just heard about it today from LaFrance....gonna see if we can make it, but again won't have the jeep there if we are able to.

hey frog, 8 sounds perfect. gila monster is not that long of a trail. cheap trick is supposed to be rated a 4+ with a couple of spots round 5. but, like justin said, not too sure until we find it. along with everyone else here, ive seen some 4 rated trails that thru the years have become a 3 to 3.5 at best (firebird).
im game for headin out unless this group gets to be too big. im not really into wheelin with a large group. sorry.just my personal preference. so if it seems like 4 or 5 are going to be there, im game. any larger, and i think ill prob wait til another time.

thanks, jason '98 flattie

Any of ya'll interested in headin' out tomorrow mornin' around 8:30 to the White Tanks? I had some stuff come up for Sunday and can't make it then. So we were talkin' about heading out to the White Tanks for a little while in the AM and run of a few trails. However if there is no interest we probably wont go.

If you would be interested in going out there give me a call on my cell or post a reply back here. We are thinking about meeting at 8:30 or so at Watson Road.

Hope to hear from ya'll!
