I have a 94 XJ and its starting to sound like my font wheel bearings are going out. I'm getting this annoying squeak only when its rolling. From talking to Autozone and looking in the manual, it looks like the wheel bearings are 1 pc with the front hub.

My question is, has anybody done one of these? Is it "as simple" as removing the caliper, then the hub nut (36mm) and then the 3 bolts on the back. Remove hub and replace.

Thanks for any heads up!
Chris

That's all there is to it... been there done that x 30
make sure is the prob, replaced 2 on XJ (at customer's request), turned out being carrier bearings
I recommend people do these (remove / imspect) off the trail, so seized bolts are taken care of before stuck in middle of nowhere)

Sometimes mine stops at higher speeds, so how do I know if its the wheel bearings or the carrier bearings?????
I jacked it up and spun the front tires and they both squeak.

Dont rule out the u-joints, they rotate at the same time.

I checked the u-joints they don't seem to be the problem. I'm just wondering now, how to check between the wheel and carrier bearings?

Gonna sound bad, but pull the brake calipers and look for brake dust. You'll find it in the riveted holes.

Not exactly sure when, but OEM's went to a softer metal in the rotors to get rid of the squeaky brake problem. It does cause problems once in a while as it creates dust faster than it can be removed.
