USFS Rescinds Oak Creek Homestead Closure!

Well, it's official...Hell has frozen over!

I received a statement that the Red Rock Ranger District intends to leave the Oak Creek Homestead/Cliffhanger trail open for the time being. They do ask for community involvement with safety, maintenance and patrolling issues. I am going to jump in to that.

I have more details, if anyone is interested.

Thank you to everyone who wrote letters. Ken Anderson says that the response from the public is what made him review the issue. See, people? We CAN make a difference!

Maybe we should plan a celebration run?

Nena, that is great news. Just goes to show that our presence can be felt if we use our numbers.

Let us know about any help you need organizing up there and I am sure that plenty of us will be willing to help out. Who doesn't like to go to Sedona :)

Perhaps we ought to arrange a trip up there soon before they change their minds or get sued by the Sierra Club to close it again.
