PS pump was whinning and hoses were leaking, We replaced the pump and both hoses , but now the pump is still whining  and the fluid is foaming up in the resivoir! what could cause this? I thought it was an air pocket but the manual says it is self bleeding.. Bad steering box? gasket somewhere on the box? them things is expensive, :( im hoping for a easy fix!
Im stumped ...

Even if it is a self bleeding pump or box it souds like air is still in there. Jack up the front of the XJ and keep turning it lock to lock with the engine off. I know AGR steering on the web has good directions forr getting the air out..Good luck.
Heres a link Chapter 4 has it

Thats what I was almost positive about(air bubble) I just couldn't figure out how to get the little sucker outa there.. I'll try what the AGR site said. raise the front and turn the wheels lock to lock at least 20 times.. I'll tell my bro to try it and I'll keep ya posted! Hey John :) You got a PM!

Sometimes when you install a new pump or box the fluid will foam when you first start it up and stay foamed untill it sits for a while. Have you let it sit after running it to let the bubbles purge out? Don

I had pretty much the same problem. When I lived down in Phx untill 2 months ago my steering made the noise and foamed up too. When it was cold out(like winter) it would also leak but in the warmer weather it just foamed and made noise. When I moved to Prescott it started leaking badly wether it was hot or cold out, finially found the resivoir leaking causing it to suck air into the system causing the whining. After replacing the resivoir the leak stopped along with the noise. Did you get a resivoir too? Don

Yep, got the whole thing as an assembly, Res and pump.
It didn't have a pully on it though, so we bought one seperate.

Im wondering if we broke the new Res installing the pully, I pressed it on :o :D instead of using the supplied installing Bolt kit thing(ya know?)...

Its not leaking anywhere,
everything is dry as a bone...
