I've tried the search function to no avail...
Is/was there a post specifically for ORBA donations to Hunter or others? I sense the frustration level on raising funds for the cause, but don't see where it was posted; ie the name, address, paypal or check, etc on where to send donations. Can someone re-post if it was already done? If it was not done previously, perhaps a specific request for donations would help??
Found some extra pennies in my pocket, thought I'd chip in if I knew where & how. There may be others out there with more than just lint in their pockets.
TIA

What is this ORBA? I asked on the dinner post but never heard anything. I am shure I would like to help John out with pretty much any cause but I am shure that there are several other people who have no idea what everybody is talking about.

ORBA is a business organization started to help FIGHT land closures in California about 3-4 years ago. Blue Ribbon Coalition and United Four Wheel Drive have onstaff attorneys to help our cause but they both tend to defend "National Issues" whereas ORBA has onstaff attornies that will help with any little or local issue. Their attorneys are aggressive and GOOD. Roy Denner, President has an "in" with our political contacts and support from both state and national legislators. ORBA also works closely with a lobbiest in D.C.
ORBA has helped Arizona with numerous issues as well as give us $2500.00 in cash to help us fight the Pygmy Owl issue here.............. They saw the land closures from within California flowing out to other states so they are now stepping in to help groups from across the country. It started with bikes and quads as that was Roy's love and the Glamis Dunes closure started the ball rolling. He quickly saw the need to protect the 4x4 but our guys have been very apathetic about doing anything other than "wheel'n"......... It's beginning to turn around but it may not be fast enough.
We're losing..................... I've just spent 20 hours (2 days) in a route evaluation workgroup looking for "designations" suitable for the Florence Junction area. It wasn't positive and before we will save even a portion of our trails (specifically all trails from a 3.5 and above) it's going to take legal support . ORBA will do this for us.................... I can't get our guys to raise $1,000.00 a year to support our businesses, how does anyone think we can raise $100,000.00 +++++ for litigation?
Check out the WEB site listed above.............. they have a lot of information that should answer many of your questions.

Hi,
Check out the ORBA website and look for your favorite local businesses that support ORBA and spend your money there. Thats all you have to do!

Hi,
Check out the ORBA website and look for your favorite local businesses that support ORBA and spend your money there. Thats all you have to do!
Scott
Scott is absolutely correct that we must "support those that support us" but we still need to encourage our favorite shop to join ORBA or gather together to raise funds to help support a favorite shop................ $1,000.00 yearly membership is certainly a PERK compared to $100,000.00 ++++ for litigation. New Mexico 4-Wheelers have spent in excess of $100,000.00 trying to fight to keep a trail on the outside edge of a WSA. It was recently thrown out of court after 4 years of litigation. They will be going back so they're looking at another $100,000.00 + in attorney fees. ORBA has the attorney to fight these issues for us.................. and the political pull both within states and national. These are important factors that we, as individuals, have a tough time doing.
I just finished 20 hours of "route evaluation" for FJ........... so many absolutely insane proposals were presented by the "greenies" as "alternatives" it blew my mind. Things like: closing ALL trails in washes; putting ALL ATV's and bikes in small 40-100 acre "parks"; gating all technical trails; and the best of all was to "close the entire FJ area to motorized (with the exception of the miners, ranchers, and administrative access) from the months of Feb - May." We WILL end up in litigation over the FJ area as well as the Table Mesa area before this is all well and done............... any ideas HOW Arizona OHV can or will pay for this? If EVERY 4-wheeler paid $5.00 a month towards supporting a favorite business we'd have an open line to ORBA and legal defense. If every 4-wheeler paid $50.00 per month we might have enough to finance a litigation........... is there a choice?
I had hoped our Arizona recreationists would have stepped up after seeing what California has lost............ they didn't and we're now LOSING. The handful from Arizona simply don't have the power of numbers and can only do so much. The agencies are "betting" we won't call their bluff so THEY win in the end.

THANK you very much!!! Your support is valued and appreciated.
Yes, John very much approves of this even though he's been very hesitant to admit he needs the support. John was the first 4x4 business in Arizona to support ORBA. He then fell on hard times even though he's always given his all to his fellow 4-wheelers.
I'm in touch with John regularily and will keep everyone up to date on the ORBA dues situation. The problem lies in that this fee needs to be paid each year............. so far we're less than 1/2 way there and it's been almost a year in doing. I'd like to see the AZVJC put together a fund raiser or a firm "support action" to enable this to continue each year........... can always "WISH" right??? Something to think about is we don't have to pay $1,000.00 up front each year............ we can pay in quarterly payments of $250.00. If everyone donated $5.00 per month to a Hunter/ORBA account the dues could easily be paid on a quarterly basis and I doubt any member would feel the lose of $5.00 per month...........
Again............. Thanks for your support!

THANKS Marv.................. I received your check in the amount of $60.00 ($5.00 / month)............... I KNOW John is very appreciative, as am I !!! If even half of the AZVJC members would be half as generous we could have Hunter supported with ORBA as well as other small shops.
Your donation brings this account to $273.00 plus what John has. ??? A paypal account with members donating once each month or so would significantly build this account. We don't have to have $1,000.00 to start..... we can do $250.00 every three months.............. If someone could set up a PayPal account with pledges to keep this continuing we could send in a first quarter payment for Hunter Off-Road.
Look at the picture:
There are over 400 members to the BBS alone.
IF 200 of these AZVJC members donated $5.00 PER YEAR this would be Hunters full years dues. (Yes Joe......... you would have to give up ONE table or lap dance per year)!!
IF 100 members donated only $2.50 every THREE MONTHS this would pay membership.
We are definitely looking at litigation in the near future............... hopefully everyone is as supportive of this action as you!
I owe you a "HUG".............. Sandee

Sandee, it may be prudent for someone to setup a bank account at a local institution that we run this Paypal account off of. I would be willing to also set this up and then create some sort of Paypal account off of it. We could even be all creative and stuff and give the email address a catchy name like Club Donations or something.
I have met John, and while I have yet to have any work done there I do know quite a few people that have and his talents and extreme generosity to all of us that have ever needed his services make helping out with this all of the reason that I would ever need.

My experience with Paypal has been very positive. A checking account linked to the Paypal account is the easiest way to transfer funds etc. Takes a little bit to have account verified as legitimate through Paypay (they make very small deposits to account, then they must be verified by account holder). This is probably the easiest way to handle donations. It is simple, hell, if everyone threw in, we COULD make a difference. Lets not let out OHV rights slip away like so many of our other rights are slowly going away. The Earth Cookies will win if we don't get off our butts and do something!!

Jim, I agree with you Paypal is definitely the easiest way to go. I have setup a paypal account today with the email address of clubdonations@go.com. If several people agree with this, then a few of us can open up a bank account for this purpose to donate to causes we feel strongly about.
Whether it is myself or someone else in the group that agrees to manage our donations fund everyone should know that we are doing this out of the goodness of our hearts and to further our efforts to retain the freedoms we enjoy with our sport. No one person will profit one cent off of the donations that will pass through us.
So every speak up on whether you think this is a good idea before we proceed with a bank account for it. Also Moderators if this topic needs to be moved to have better visibility please do so at your convenience.

Excellent... If I'm thinking correctly, you can put some type of comment with your PayPal payment, no? If so, that would be great because then you can see where the donation is supposed to be allocated. If not, how will this be kept in order? Like if we have more than one thing going, how do we know what monies are going towards which cause?

Dan, you are correct you can add notes to your paypal payments to notate a specific item you would be donating to. We will also want to have very methodic records kept and published here on the board so that all monies are accounted for.

Ok if people would like I can add the new email address that 1blackjeep came up with and use mine that is already setup. Then I will use an account that is already started that we (my wife and I) no longer use anymore.....It is still open and all my info is verified and ready to go.
Let me know I would be willing to keep everything open and people will be able to see the reports and I'll keep a paper log also......

Well if that is the case it is already setup for that matter. I have already setup a Paypal account attached the email address of clubdonations@go.com. I setup a separate Paypal account so that no one had to link it to their personal one and we can keep better track that way. It is ready to be used if anyone wants send donations to it. We can also either setup a bank account especially for this purpose or FlxyTJ said that they had one already that can be used for it. The rest is all logistical. We don't need the account until we have enough funds to donate.

So where do we stand. Are we doing donations, can I be first :D , Do we need to move this thread to an area more people read. I've never seen such poor response. Start a link and mention Bush, Kerry, Moore or Pat Paulsen and there is more response than helping a brother with his membership to ORBA.

First of all, to everyone that made a donation to help with the ORBA membership, Thank you very much! Every bit counts, it is not cheap to become a member!
I'm still wondering what happened to everyone else that was so concerned about our trails and the "Greenies" and such stuff. When the trails are being closed, and we don't have representation, everyone is going to be screaming their heads off that the "Greenies" did it. I can't understand why the groups that are trying to take things away from us (the "greenies, anti-gun groups, take prayer out of school etc) are so vocal, and the ones that have things to lose sit on their hands and don't do anything until it is over and then whine and complain about it.
I haven't heard anything about moving forward on this since 09-15-04, but on all the Jeep groups there's more action on where the next Water Slide park is going to be and why it's stupid to put it there!
Rant over for now!!

"Getting down to business" is sometimes very hard........... it seems to be much easier to fuss about the non-essential things around us. I agree, I don't understand the "apathy" about non-involvement when our trails are disappearing around us on a daily basis. The Maricopa County Air Quality Control now are enforcing unbelieveably STRICT "fugitive dust" regs on us which will close 99% of ALL trails in the White Tanks and all across Carefree Hwy. WHEN will everyone believe this is happening. ORBA sent their attorney over here for the Dust Abatement meetings but to take on the "FIGHT" will be costly. Arizona has almost NO VOTES due to lack of participation so we're at the bottom of the pole as far as priority................
Do we have to LOSE ALL before EVERYONE steps up to the front lines to help this WIN this battle.
I have $270.00 from collected donations................. the BBQ box plus donations sent. $5.00 from each of you will put Hunter membership fees well ahead. PLEASE do your share to help the cause.
