This weekend in the Cinders Jeeper and his passenger died on $100 dollar hill.
It is not my place to post any more information at this time. I did not know them but it did involve a AZVJC club member. All that has been asked at this point is for your thoughts and prayers for the family and friends. As things progress I am sure the AXZJC will turn out to help in anyway we can.

I was up in Flagstaff for an ASA4WDC meeting some years back. A few of us took a spin through the Cinders before the meeting. I was a passenger in a CJ5 w/hardtop and a lot of loose stuff inside it, including a dog. The driver got up $100 hill as far as he could then decided not to back down so he made a u-turn on the hill. I swore we were going to roll (tumble) all the way down the side of the hill, but he put enough power into the turn and the CJ stayed upright. That was the scariest 4x4 trip I have ever been on!

If you haven't been out there, the Cinders can be very intimidating. Backing down a very steep loose hill for 1/4-mile is really unnerving and I can see why people try to turn around.

I've never been there, I got curious about it and found this photo.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends. If there is anything we can do to help from the Tucson area, drop a line and let us know.

A sad week for the AZVJC. I hope we can do something for the family.

Once again I'd like to recommend we have some sort of page on the main azvjc.org site dedicated to the memory of any and all AZVJC members who have passed away. We're kind of a loosely-tied club but it should be known that we take care of and honor our own.

I agree, a memorial page would be nice to remember those fallen Jeepers.

Thanks for posting this info. Our condolences to the family and friends. May we learn something from this terrible accident that will keep someone else from injury or death in a similar situation.

I was up there this past weekend, but missed the accident. As always, it saddens me to hear about anyone's death.
Oceans of sympathy,

Condolences to the family.
Should we dedicate the annual run to Crown King to Dennis and Mike Reyas? Each group before they leave could have a moment of silence to honor them.
