The Governor last month tried to pull a special session to get a revision to our State Trust Land Policies. This act would have locked up state land as open area. The intent of the State trust Land is to help fund our school system. Besides locking us out it would have made this land useless for raising money. The idea died when she found out she could not get the votes. My State Rep kept me informed and will let me know if it ever comes back. This entire idea is funded by the GAG's (green advociy groups) my spelling sucks. Sorry.
If this comes up again it will be because they have the votes. We will need to respond with letters to all your State Reps to change thier minds.

Rather than being on the defensive (as we always seem to be) and waiting for them to gather the votes and reintroduce this, what's to stop us from taking an offensive stance and gather the votes necessary to pass an initiative to keep the State Trust lands open for good? I'm willing to stand around in front of off-road shops, parts stores, Home Depot, Fry's etc. to gather signatures. I bet if John Q. Public knew his kids schools funding was at risk, he'd sign it quick.
